It seems certain that Schalk Burger and Juan de Jongh, as well as Michael Rhodes, will miss the Stormers’ Super Rugby match against the Bulls in two weeks’ time.
Schalk Burger, who was set to play in this weekend’s loss to the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein but was withdrawn due to muscle tightness, has since been ruled out for two weeks due to a strained muscle.
Juan de Jongh picked up a hamstring injury against the Cheetahs and will be in a race to prove his fitness for the clash against the Bulls.
Ex-Lions lock/loose forward, Michael Rhodes, picked up an injury while warming up for the Cheetahs match, ruling him out of the preseason match against the Boland Cavaliers this weekend.
News24.com reports that Allister Coetzee has stuck by his statement that players who did not take part in any of the preseason matches will not be considered for the Bulls match, with the exception of Elton Jantjies and Peter Grant, for obvious reasons. This means that Schalk Burger will not make his return to rugby in the opening weekend, and will have to wait until the second week, when the Stormers travel to Durban to take on the Sharks.

Where have I heard this song before?
Michael Rhodes is also permanently injured. I wonder how many minutes of rugby he played for the Lions compared to their other loosies/locks.
He’s got a lot of potential but regularly injured of suspended.
@Pokkel (Comment 2) : I remember saying something similar when everyone moaned about the Sharks letting him go…
Schalk has become soft ever since “that” Lambie handoff
He did not even make the first game before getting injured. Atleast Juan Smith played without getting injured.
