Milnerton Rugby Club in the Western Cape have reacted with surprise to reports that their new Head Coach, Adrian Abraham Jacobs, has been linked with a surprise return to the playing field this weekend.
Since retiring from the game at the end of the 2011 season, his last with the Sharks, Jacobs opted to return to his roots in the Western Cape and after taking a break altogether from the game, has launched his coaching career this season with Milnerton. Another former play, Isma’eel Dollie, is the club’s new Director of Rugby.
Any reports linking the former Bok centre to the Boland team that has been named for this weekend’s clash against the Stormers are, it follows, completely incorrect. There may well be an “Adi Jacobs”, or perhaps even “Adri Jacobs” playing centre for Boland this weekend, but it certainly isn’t “our Adi”. We understand that a supposedly reputable rugby site ran such a story late yesterday and who knows how many others have picked up up from there.
As always, we bring you the truth and in this case, the truth is simple…. it ain’t him!
We’d, of course, like to extend our best wishes to both Adi and Ish for their new careers in coaching.

Ja – This Adi played apparently for Bulls juniors some time back or something..
Hahaha and then Rugby 365 goes and Tweet “Sprinkbok Adi Jacob named in Boland squad” or something!
I noticed a game some time back where an Adi Jacobs and an Adrian Jacobs were in two opposing teams – neither of them our Adi.
@King Shark (Comment 2) : it’s not an uncommon name. This is why it’s always better to check before making assumptions. Rugby365 should know better!
The sauce just left the building…
One way of getting ol’ Charlie to come and say Hello!
@Charlie (Comment 4) :
@Charlie (Comment 4) : I reckon rugby365 was on the sauce
I remember Adi playing for Kraaifontein back when I was finishing High School.
Hard to comprehend that these guys are already retired.
@VinChainSaw (Comment 8) : I think both of them just got tired of the bullshit
@robdylan (Comment 9) : dont blame adi his contract was not renewed yet they went and bought m.jobert what a slap in the face
this is someone who served the sharks loyaly for years and they didnt keep him around even in a coaching or mentoring role to the youngsters teach them a thing or 2 about loyalty.i hope they dont do that to botes or odwa it would be a shame.
Adi is a legend in my books
Good luck Adi. You rock!
