You all know I’ve generally been pretty supportive of the Kings up until now, right? Well… this time the blighters have gone too far!
The picture below, courtesy of Beeld (photographer Werner Hills) shows Kings team-mates Luke Watson and Mpho Mbiyozo wearing the Kings’ new Super Rugby jerseys and like the Stormers did back in the late 90s, they’ve somehow seemed to think that black and white are their colours.
This is simply not on. The Kings – and EP before them – have always played in red and black and if they’re hoping to make a point in their first year of Super Rugby by usurping someone else’s colours, then by all means, maximise the red part and really rub the vanquished Lions’ noses in it. Black, though, is the Sharks’ colour. It simply isn’t on to design a jersey that so blatantly and obviously clashes with what the Sharks wear.
Be warned, Kings. No mercy will be shown!
