The Sharks have made only one change to the team that beat the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein last week, bringing in Jean Deysel to start in place of Jacques Botes.
Cobus Reinach continues ahead of Charl McLeod, who did not even take the field against the Cheetahs, while the match 22 remains unchanged, with no injury concerns from the opening match of the weekend.
The Stormers have named Frans Malherbe in the front row to try and stabilise the scrum against the likes of Jannie du Plessis and Tendai Mtawarira.
Sharks: 15. Louis Ludik, 14. JP Pietersen, 13. Paul Jordaan, 12. Frans Steyn (c), 11. Lwazi Mvovo, 10. Pat Lambie, 9. Cobus Reinach, 8. Ryan Kankowski, 7. Jean Deysel, 6. Marcell Coetzee, 5. Franco van der Merwe, 4. Anton Bresler, 3. Jannie du Plessis, 2. Craig Burden, 1. Tendai Mtawarira Substitutes: 16. Kyle Cooper, 17. Wiehahn Herbst, 18. Pieter-Steph du Toit, 19. Jacques Botes, 20. Charl McLeod, 21. Meyer Bosman, 22. Odwa Ndungane

Consistency and rotation. I like!
“Cobus Reinach continues ahead of Charl McLeod” Reason for that comment? Cobus is a better and much more reliable scrummie than Mcloed…get over it
@JJR (Comment 2) : there’s no need to be rude to the writer. Go sit in the corner.
BTW, well done on calling the loose trio change.
We know what Fourie can do to us, I would’ve thought Botes’ skillset to be a bit ahead in countering him
Mcloed would be a top scrummie if he could cut the unforced errors out of his game…it all comes from his lack of composure. He needs to think a bit more rather than going 100% all the time; imo.
I am very happy Reinach is making the starting spot his own.
@Die Kriek (Comment 4) : He also gives away a lot of penalties, he can’t throw and he can’t scrum…i don’t think we should be too worried
We need Deysel…just need to look at the Stormers lose trio to see we need the extra muscle. Also remember how Sharks struggled to get over the advantage line against the Stormers in our 2nd game last year…it was a loose trio without Alberts and Deysel. Plum has made the right selection, i believe. I believe Deysel is going to be immense this weekend!
@robdylan (Comment 3) : I’m just tired of people expecting Mcloed to be first choice number 9 after all he has done the last couple seasons…Richard won’t even read my comment, too busy posting stuff on Keo
I apologize Richard… It’s me not you
@JJR (Comment 7) : I prefer Mcleod to start rather than Cobus as he gets our runners and Lambie on the frontfoot mainly because most of Cobus’ passes are too high, and it breaks the rythm. Cobus turned a couple of balls over on Saturday which can be because it’s the first game.
But let’s see…
@JJR (Comment 7) : you’re being a dick please stop. Thanks
@JJR (Comment 7) : have a feeling he will read your comment.
I love Reinach though, he has the look of a champ. If we can win this weekend, we are off to perfect start with kings up next. Feeling a bit better than his time last year…
Is Plum feeling ill?
Saturday 7pm kickoff and we get the team by Wednesday?
@JJR (Comment 7) : Cool will do…to me it’s just a joke; but i will stop…no worries
Feel free to edit my comments if you wish…as i am unable to do so myself.
@Pokkel (Comment 11) : I’m loving it…Plum knows what the team is by the end of tuesday on most weeks anyway, so i’m glad we get it on the wednesday…was hell waiting for thursday afternoon in the past
@JJR (Comment 12) : if you think that attacking my writers is a joke, I will go beyond editing your comments and will rather remove you from the hassle of making them in the first place.
Right. Another annoying problem solved.
Remember people, I have a LOT more buttons available to me on this site.
We still going to have to be very clinical at the breakdowns, that is where they nailed us in the day which must not be mentioned…
Too excited for Sat, we better smash them!
I really don’t like Province/Stormers/the general people of Cape Town(besides my friends and family who live there{and even them
})/people like Hendrikp
who supports province/people like Mark Keohane-who says he’s a Bulls supporter
It makes me extremely happy when we beat them down ,and for that reason I am glad to see Deysel in the team.
Most province supporters think Deon Fourie and Nazim Carr will be Boks by the end of the year.
@Talent (Comment 17) : Yeah, can’t stand those arseholes.
@Talent (Comment 17) : Deysel’s going to trample all over those girliemen on Saturday.
Not sure about the change, Botes was huge on Saturday!
@McLovin (Comment 19) :
@McLovin (Comment 19) : Im assuming you live there and that you are calling yourself my friend
@Talent (Comment 23) : No.
@robdylan (Comment 15) : we love you Rob! Bad day at the office?
hopefully deysel can get loads more ball on the run rather than standing start
@McLovin (Comment 24) : haha set myself up ! Dont worry im sure some province supporters aren’t to bad, the ones that were at the back of the line and didnt get to buy justin bieber tickets…
@JD (Comment 25) : haha…. thanks.
Cobus needs to be more decisive. He was like a deer in the headlights during the CC final. Show some balls young man. You have the talent. Need clear the rucks quickly..
@Dunx (Comment 26) : did you see some of his runs on saturday..I was loving life.
@Talent (Comment 17) : Hold on, just because we live in the Magical Mothercity doesn`t mean we have to support the stormers . . .
But I get what you`re saying, I kinda feel that way about everyone in pretoria as well
@robdylan (Comment 14) : Hi Rob, just a thought, playing peacemaker. I think he meant that his comment (JJR’s) was intended as a joke, not that attacking your writers is a joke.
Considering this is not the profession of most of your writers, I think they do a superb job, always well written and informational. I may not always agree with what they write, but have great respect for what you all do “in your free time”.
@Dancing Bear (Comment 32) : thanks DB.
JJ and I have since kissed and made up… but yes, I do have a sore spot for people taking pot shots.
For the record, I am incredibly, incredibly proud that Richard’s writing is considered of a high enough standard that one of the country’s biggest websites has opted to hire him. It is a major compliment to both him and to us here.
@robdylan (Comment 33) : ‘like’
@robdylan (Comment 33) : I didn’t know that about Richard, but great to know. Congrats Richard, great job! Bottom line is that pot shots are simply not on. We all want to come across as funny sometimes, we just have to be careful that is not at the expense of someone else.
@Pokkel (Comment 34) : sorry – removed the comment like feature cos nobody was using it
@Dancing Bear (Comment 35) :
Thanks DB, appreciate the kind words..
