Bulls coach Frans Ludeke has been forced to fly in two players for their final tour match against the Brumbies.

Wilhelm Steenkamp and Jean Cook are on their way to Canberra to replace the injured Flip van der Merwe and Grant Hattingh. Van der Merwe has a chest muscle strain while Hattingh has a broken thumb.

Bjorn Basson and Deon Stegmann are still doubtful for the match and will have to prove their fitness in the coming days to take their place in the match 22.

  • Hattingh was pretty average over the weekend.

I wonder if this Bulls team can stand against the tide and beat the Brumbies.

  • Hattingh is not physical enough for lock. They should play him at 7 where he played for the Lions. He is a useful player but had a poor outing against the Reds, losing too many balls in contact

  • Jean Cook looks like a player who will ,over time ,become a fairly good flanker.

@FireTheLooser (Comment 1) : Hattingh looks poorly conditioned ,needs to spend some time in the gym.

The Bulls are almost the polar opposite of the Sharks .We put emphasis on flair and skill whereas they put emphasis on size and athleticism. Thats not to say our forwards aren’t large guys. I just know Ludeke would never start Keegan Daniel if he had the loose forwards we do.

They are good at mauls ,we aren’t(or haven’t been until the past weekend) .We are dangerous in broken play ,they aren’t. The national coach has the foundation to amalgamate Bulls and Sharks attack with the Stormers defense to create a juggernaut of a team. I doubt he will…
