The worst has indeed been confirmed, with Sharks scrumhalf Cobus Reinach having to return from tour after just one game, as the result of an ankle injury.
Reinach has confirmed via Twitter that he’s on his way back to South AFrica and should arrive in Durban at 7pm today. There hasn’t been a detailed prognosis delivered yet, but an MRI scan early this week is expected to confirm exactly how long he’ll be out of action for. The player himself doesn’t seem to think the injury is too serious, though and is hoping to be fit again by the time the team returns from tour.
No confirmation is yet available as to whether Tian Meyer (or any other scrumhalf) has been sent to New Zealand, however we can confirm that winger Lwazi Mvovo has joined up with the team at their base in Queenstown, New Zealand. Mvovo has made good recovery from his hand injury and although he has joined the team, is not expected to be fit for Saturday’s game against the Highlanders, but should rather come into the frame for the following week’s game against the Reds.Tweet
