Good news on this Monday morning…

Advocate Jannie Lubbe has taken just an hour to quash the bogus citing of Sharks centre Francois Steyn.

Here is Lubbe’s ruling:

“The evidence of Steyn was supported by the video evidence. Further, the incident happened right in front of the match referee who awarded a Penalty Kick to the Sharks. The legal representative of the Sharks: Mr Gerrie Swart made helpful submissions and took the Judicial Officer through the available video evidence to support the version of Steyn that he did not act in breach of Law 10.4 (h).

Having carefully considered the available evidence and the submissions of Mr Swart, Lubbe concluded that it was not possible on the balance of probability that Steyn acted in breach of Law 10.4 (h). Mr [Adam] Magro concurred with the conclusion. As a result the citing is dismissed.”

  • We should demand an apology, as the Crusaders/All Blacks would…

  • I saw the PSDT punch but no idea what time it happened. It was a lot earlier on than the Steyn incident. They showed it very quickly, it looked like he had gotten onto the Chiefs side of the ruck and was holding onto the Chiefs players jersey (think it was Retallick?). One of those ones where the player tries to slap at your hand to stop you from holding him. One of those punch/slaps connected PSDT.

  • Not sure about the time when the punching occurres, but I think it was still in the 1st halve of the game. Was at a ruck right at the closest touchline. PSDT was holding onto either Rettalick or Clarke (or the 8th man??). He punched at PSDT and Meyer Bosman pulled the guy away towards the touchline. It must have happened right in front of the assitant referee although nothing was said.

  • This is good news.

Do we keep Steyn at 13 and bring JP in for Odwa, or should lindique move into the midfield?

And if lindique moves into the midfield who should he replace? Bosman or Steyn?

I have a feeling, especially with Steyn looking better each week and Bosman looking less effective each week, that Steyn and Lindique would make a good combination.

  • @Letgo (Comment 16) : I reckon Steyn 12 / Lindeque 13. JP and either Sithole / Robinson on wings. We need some gas in the back line

  • @robdylan (Comment 11) : It was at the start of the 46th minute. No 8 was boxing PSDT on the floor right in front of the linesman

  • @Letgo (Comment 16) : Yep Frans at 12 and Lindeque at 13 would have far more clout than the centre combos of past weeks.

JP and Sithole on the wing and Robinson at 15, his usual position.
