  • Not really. ours is also top class, and a loose trio on it’s own can’t really influence the outcome of a match that greatly

  • The Vodacom Cup is very important for us. If we manage to keep winning, we will keep our players match fit and be ready for the promotion/relegation. The competition will keep getting better and increase the players match fitness and match sharpness

Most of your first choice players are playing for different teams. It will be very difficult for all those players to seamlessly fit back into the Lions structures.

  • actually, a try has always been a try, spelled exactly that way. It has nothing to do with the three points… but means “a try at goal”. In the old days, the try itself counted nothing, only the conversion.

The Afrikaners fundamentally misunderstood that when translating it.

  • @FireTheLooser (Comment 102) : We don’t have a Sharks way of playing rugby. Look at the Bulls, Stormers and Cheetahs style and game plan. It gives them direction and platform. We rely too much on certain individuals as a result if those individuals or players are not playing or out of form we are exposed. We need structures, a particular way we play the game from the senior side to our juniors. We have no structure and are come short in pressure games. The lack of structure means that it also becomes difficult for juniors to easily fit into the senior side as they first need to learn a new system and then be told what is expected from a centre at the Sharks. We need a total revamp, hope John can make this happen. I’m tired of the Sharks brain trust. Have succeed in the boardroom but that success hasn’t been transferred to the playing field.

  • @GreatSharksays (Comment 109) : I disagree. The Sharks have a shared, coherent vision entrenched from juniors right up to the Super Rugby side. Unfortunately that vision is “consistent failure to convert potential into meaningful performance”…

  • This is another classic example of why playoffs are just another form of exploitation by the administration. How often do we see top teams that have one poor day being outclassed by a team that consistently performed throughout a tournament?!
