College Rovers take on Varsity College in an exciting club clash tomorrow afternoon, featuring a fair few players likely to feature for the Sharks in years to come.

Varsity College boast a young side and will do well to stay in touch with an experienced Rovers outfit, led by centre Chris Micklewood. They’ll look to Perpignan-bound Wandi Mjekevu to do the damage with ball in hand, as he has so many times already this season. The visitors boast a number of players who ran out for the Sharks under 19s last year though, particularly amongst the three-quarters. Additionally, they’ll look to Sharks XV flanker Kahay Majola to provide some impetus off the bench.

Kick-off at Rovers is at 15h30 on Saturday for the first team clash.

  • @Salmonoid (Comment 42) : they haven’t been released and knowing the way the Sharks operate, they won’t be released until much closer to the season.

I’m going to make an official request to get them, though.

  • @bobby 26 (Comment 39) : Bobby, puppy does unfortunately have a lot of competition there, with Marais and Bauer both still under 21 this year, and then du Plessis moving up as well. He needs to make sure he stays in the best possible form at club level to force his way into contention.

  • @bobby 26 (Comment 53) : good attitude, mate. Life is hard and he’s entering into probably the toughest and most competitive industry he could have chosen. There is literally no margin for error and if he wants it so badly, he needs to show that by being prepared to work harder and make more sacrifices than the next oke. Is he doing that right now?

Refreshing to find a parent who doesn’t automatically assume “conspiracy” when their own kid isn’t getting picked :)
