The first round of Super Rugby following the break has claimed a few lives in terms of injuries, with the Bulls losing a pivot and the Stormers losing a loosie.
Louis Fouche and Siya Kolisi are the biggest injuries after this weekend’s matches, Fouche being ruled out for six months with torn knee ligaments. This should bring a smile to all those who rate Handre Pollard, as he is the only other flyhalf left in the province.
Kolisi tore ankle ligaments which rules him out of action for six weeks, meaning we won’t see him taking any further part in Super Rugby, but could well be available to continue in the Springbok setup.
Over at the Cheetahs, coach Naka Drotske is worrying over the fitness of Coenie Oosthuizen. Coenie took a knock to his knee in the loss to the Stormers, and is worse than initially thought. He will be given until Friday to prove his fitness for the match against the Blues in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
The Cheetahs were without Hennie Daniller this weekend, who pulled out of the match late which saw Sarel Pretorius play on the wing. This weekend, they have Rayno Benjamin back from Sevens duty, while news about Daniller’s injury looks to make him doubtful for the match.Tweet
