Elton Jantjies seems set to take his place in the Lions team when they face the Kings for Super Rugby participation in 2014.
Rugby365.co.za reports that Jantjies is currently on loan with the Stormers, but with the Cape based side unlikely to make the play-offs, the flyhalf could turn out for the Lions when they face the Kings. The first match takes place July 26, while the first round of the play-offs is the weekend before.
Jantjies is on loan to the Stormers for the entire Super Rugby campaign, and should they make he play-offs, Jantjies would be contractually bound to stay in the Cape and compete with the Stormers. Should the Stormers not take part in the play-offs this year, Jantjies would join the Lions for the two all important matches.
Jantjies is set to continue with the Lions for the Currie Cup season as well, but his future beyond the end of the season is uncertain. The Stormers have made it clear that they would like to make Jantjies a permanent players, along with Lions compatriot Jaco Taute.

Would the Lions even consider him after he dropped the ball so many times for the Stormers?
@Original Pierre (Comment 1) :
Think Boshof should start in the Play-offs .
But we need Elton (and Taute) for next year (if the Lions get back in super rugby)
@Original Pierre (Comment 1) :
Reports indicate they are desperate to sign him..
Will be interesting to see who plays Currie Cup flyhalf – Kurt Coleman?
No Jantjies, No Grant, No Catrakilis
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 3): Gherie van Aswegen? Or did he also go somewhere?
@robdylan (Comment 4) :
Oh ja.. Him.. I forgot..
It’s easy to forget with so many talented flyhalves running around, or is it hobbling around?, down there..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 5) :
think Wp/Stormers should stop breaking our toys and then buying ours !!!
Really hope Elton sits down and think long and hard about this .
@Zibbie (Comment 6) :
His decision will be solely based on whether the Lions make a return to Super Rugby next year.
If they do, the Stormers will probably buy back the Greek..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 7) :
That gives me some hope !
Thanks for the artickle…..LOL Jantjies is a quality player that just strugled to get use to the boring style of the Stormers…. He is looking good at the momunt and will always bring the x-factor to the game…. We will welcome him back home with open arms.
Boshoff is also a quality player and I am sure Ackerman will find a role for him to play in the side…..
@Original Pierre (Comment 1) : let’s hope he carries on with his current form against the Kings
Amazing try by Sexton.
Lions ripping the Wallabies a new one.
Hehe….Wallabies looking like chumps now.
Well I hope Jantjies gets his form back…he is way off than where he was for the Lions…
Is Carstens, Bezuidenhout, Mapoe, etc coming back too…
@Hmmm (Comment 15) :
And Franco!!!
