With Currie Cup kick-off just a few days away, there’s still plenty of movement going on, with players announcing departures from one team or another.

Rather than handle each individually, we’ll try to summarise here – some of these have been reported before.

Kings lock David Bullbring has confirmed a move to the Bulls, but we’re not sure if this will be before, or after, Currie Cup.
Pumas scrumhalf Shaun Venter, who was on loan to the Kings, will move to the Cheetahs after the Currie Cup.
Kings loose forward Jacques Engelbrecht will move to the Bulls and be available for the Currie Cup.
Kings centre Waylon Murray will move to the Bulls and be available for the Currie Cup.
Blue Bulls and Tuks flyhalf Willie du Plessis will move to the Lions and be available for the Currie Cup.
Kings fullback SP Marais will move to the Sharks and be available for the Currie Cup.
Former Bulls prop Bees Roux will move to the Lions and be available for the Currie Cup.
Kings flyhalf Demetri Catrikilis will be available to Western Province for the Currie Cup, although he is currently injured.
Kings lock David Bullbring will move to the Bulls and be available for the Currie Cup.
Kings hooker Bandise Maku will move to the Bulls and be available for the Currie Cup.
Lions hooker Callie Visagie be available to the Bulls for the Currie Cup after being released from his contract. He represented the Bulls in Super Rugby as a loan player.

We’ll keep this list updated as and when more movements are confirmed.

  • @TELECASTER (Comment 2) : Ludik is planning on leaving for Agen at the end of the Currie Cup. Hopefully john can talk him out of it, but it may not be possible.

  • Mr.Watson junior says the Kings will be loaning out players during the S15 next year to keep them up to scratch. It appears they have players enough for their division 1 CC team and these are surplus, some on loan others taking new contracts.Seems the Kings are making plans for a comeback at end next S15 season. Surprised that Bees Roux is still out there though.

  • any discussion relating to Bees Roux and his “situation” is best saved for a different site, thanks.

That topic is not welcome here.

  • You’re assuming I haven’t. I have. In the past and I have again now. I’m not sure how you categorise the topic or my comment but it’s not political, not racist and not religious. I didn’t swear and nor did I degrade the player or any team. I even accept your right to moderate the site – even based on your own opinion – it’s your site after all, but in this instance you could have done it in a bit more tactfully. My intent was not malicious nor provoking.

  • ok look – maybe I overreacted a little there. Sorry for not explaining better.

Let me make it quite plain why I did what I did. We don’t encourage or even tolerate discussions relating to politics, crime, race and the usual “stuff” that tends to blight South African rugby blogs and turn them instead into havens for bullying and hate speech. Our approach has always been one of zero tolerance, to ensure there is no grey area.

In my experience, it is not possible to have a discussion about a (white) player who killed a (black) policemen without the above topics coming very strongly into play. As such, we do not want to entertain any discussion about the player in question.

I’m sorry if this seems unreasonably draconian, but this approach has worked for us in the past and helps to keep our site special.

  • @robdylan (Comment 7) : I actually don’t care about his ‘situation’, I just don’t like the guy. Same goes for a few other Bulls’ ex- and current players.

  • @robdylan (Comment 11) : Which is why I am able to enjoy this blog, and don’t bother with any of the other rugby blogs/sites/comments/people for quite some time now.

Keep standing firm on it, we ALL actually appreciate it. ;-)

  • @SuperEtts (Comment 17) : yes, that’s exactly right. You said nothing wrong, but I’ve seen an innocent comment explode in the past. And like it or not, we have our own set of trolls who actively look for loopholes in the application of the policy, then exploit them to their hearts’ content.
