With only four teams involved and only two coming out the winners it was always going to be a little hard picking any other players than from the Sharks and Western Province, so this became more of a who will be the players to look out for in the final this weekend:
15. Gio Aplon
He was dangerous against the Lions and could be the difference between a win or a loss again this weekend.
14. Gerhard van den Heever
He’s really stepped up his game again during this Curie Cup, he gets involved and carries the ball a lot stronger through the tackles.
13. Jean de Villiers
We’ve come to realize that having him in your team is always better than not having him in your team.
12. Damian de Allende
He runs direct lines and often gets over the advantage line.
11. Lwazi Mvovo
He was chasing up-and-unders all night and made it very uncomfortable for the Cheetahs back three.
10. Pat Lambie
It wasn’t just the two moments of brilliance he had, it was the way he controlled the game.
9. Louis Schreuder
Quick and clean service to his backs and some smart decision making throughout.
8. Duane Vermuelen
He is playing more than just the big crashing forward role, he makes smart runs and good offloads and as an eight-man, amazingly makes a couple of steals too.
7. Marcell Coetzee
Really stepped up when Deysel went off the field and got the Sharks over the advantage line.
6. Jacques Botes
He may not even be involved in the Final (pending the availability of Deysel), but Botes sure brought another dimension to the Sharks attack when he came on.
5. Pieter-Steph du Toit
He and his opposite number showed some good touches in this game and may both just be vying for the same spot on the end of year tour.
4. Eben Etzebeth
It’s not easy keeping this man in check.
3. Pat Cilliers
He won the battle in their previous encounter and has continued to show his good form, but will the Beast allow him to get the upper hand again?
2. Bismarck du Plessis
He’s the best, but he needs control his passion. Too often it seeps into of the ball stuff.
1. Dale Chadwick
Chadwick has really stepped up a gear since his return, not only has his scrumming improved drastically, but he’s putting in the hard yards around the field.Tweet
