A new game to try

I am a big fan of online fantasy type games, especially when it comes to testing my knowledge of rugby against others. So here is a new, slightly easier version of rugby prediction to try your hand at.

The website is called Hunch Hero, and the idea is based on the SuperBru game, where you follow a hunch and back a team. The difference is, you do not select the winning margin, you basically call a draw, a win by 1-6 points, a win by 7-11 points or a 12+ points win.

This is still in the building phase, and the guys running the show would love our input in making it a better platform.

So feel free to head over to Hunch Hero, register, and try it out.

You are welcome to comment here and I will gladly forward the info to the guys in charge.

  • I have registered for the November Internationals as a trial.

Apparently there will be some modifications before the Super Rugby and Six Nations tournaments kick off.

  • So you like indulging in ‘fantasy games’, Richie… As long as you and these other lads are consenting adults I suppose.

  • Anyone read Keo’s latest “Im so gay for Morne” article???

What a laugh…feels the need to write what felt like a 5 pg essay proving why he thinks Morne is number 1.

    Somehow failed to mention:
    - defensive frailties
    - lack of vision
    - lack of ability to attack the line

    ….I could go on

  • To similar to Superbru! Would like it to go in a completely different direction!

Wouldn’t us ruggby bloggers love a site that vindicates our own theories…

Let people guess about performance based statistics about individual players.

So you bet on a team to win ,who will miss/make the most tackles ,make the most passes/errors ,make the most meters with ball in hand/failure to cross the advantage line ,most active players on defense and so on…
Then allow and encourage blog discussions on comparative statistics

  • @Talent (Comment 11) : Thanks for your comments, we did look at that direction when we first started planning Hunch Hero. There were a couple of reasons we didn’t go with it. 1, the cost of getting all that player data. 2, we can’t be sure that the player data is consistent across teams/competitions. 3, we wanted to keep the game as casual as we could.

But, we do want to go into more team performance stats and if there’s somethings you’d like to see we’re more than happy to try and provide them!
