We confirmed back in November that Sharks Currie Cup loose forward Brynard Stander has left to join the Western Force and will play for the Perth franchise in this year’s Super Rugby competition.

The Force have now unveiled Stander to the media and you can see what he has to say about his move in the video below, courtesy of the Western Force’s YouTube channel.

  • Interesting to hear that he considers himself more of a ball carrier than a fetcher

  • Yeah, hey Rob, what’s with all the old news coming through now? Did we just enter a time warp and we are back to the future? or are the other journalists just waking up now?
Wait I get it… they just didn’t believe all the articles on SW!!!

  • Rob these ball carrying loosies are a dime a dozen in SA. I mean Braam Steyn, Bryn Stander and Meyer Swanepoel have all sought greener pastures

  • @Dunx (Comment 8) : Well… he is 23 already. If he’s nowhere close to cracking a starting spot at 23, then probably not the next big thing. Just saying…

  • Sad to lose him. But maybe he’ll come back to the Sharks in two years’ time. I thought he was gonna try and get Aus passport and then play for Aus National team one day.

  • Sad to see him go, he looked really useful last year.

Loved his comment that it was better to play for your brother than for a stranger
