The refereeing appointments for this weekend’s first round of Super Rugby matches have been announced. Jason Jaftha may have lasted just four minutes of the Sharks’ warm-up game against the Lions on Friday before leaving the field injured, but he will have another chance to see them in action first hand as he handles their clash with the Bulls in Durban on Saturday.
South Africa’s top ref, Craig Joubert, will handle the other game this weekend, between the Cheetahs and the Lions in Bloemfontein.
Cheetahs v Lions at Free State Stadium, Bloemfontein – 17:05
Referee: Craig Joubert (South Africa)
Assistant referees: Jaco Peyper (South Africa), Lourens van der Merwe (South Africa)
Television match official: Johan Greeff (South Africa) with Oupa Wagner (South Africa) in training
Sharks v Bulls at Kings Park, Durban – 19:10
Referee: Jason Jaftha (South Africa)
Assistant referees: Stuart Berry (South Africa), Marius Jonker (South Africa)
Television match official: Deon van Blommestein (South Africa)

oh dear
Jafte is actually a very good ref.
He seemed to get it totally wrong in a few games toward the end of last season though.
Lets hope he’s had a quiet word with himself and has improved his consistency.
Generally OK. His scrum interpretation – big problem. He loves flashing cards. Discipline imperative !
Jafta should be okay as long as we don`t face the Lions with him in charge . . .
Off Topic : Has JP joined us yet and would he be selected this weekend at all or are we going in with Odwa and Mvovo ?
I hope it wasn’t a Sharks player that took him out on Friday!
@Original Pierre (Comment 4) : I think he’s still in Japan.
Noooooooo
@Original Pierre (Comment 4) : JP just tweeted a pic of himself in the snow (in Japan). The cool-as-ice winger known for his scorching red hot runs will have to chill for the time being until his club commitments are over; only then can he enter the sweltering heat of Durban. Cold. Hot. Hot. Cold. Pun. Pun. Anonymous keo writer
@The Great Couch Shark (Comment 8) : All keo writers are anonymous…with good reason
@The Great Couch Shark (Comment 8) : @robdylan (Comment 6) : Wonder who his club is playing this weekend . . .
I`ll place a bet a little bet . . . if I win bargain, if I lose we get JP back!
” Everyone`s a Winner at the Cotton Club ”
@Original Pierre (Comment 10) : Either way, he’s coming back…it’s the final vs. suntori sun goliath fdp’s team (the name is something to that effect)
@FireTheLooser (Comment 11) : Lets hope JP`s team win then so he can come back with a Winning Culture as Lassy Lion used to say!
Uuuuummmm Rob…

According to this it’s Peyper in charge of the game.

Now I’m even more confused…
