  • @pienaar111 (Comment 88) : Strauss gets caught in the back line in defense, where he makes diabolical defensive decisions, far too often. He needs to wake up. He is obliged to stick close to the rucks on defense, especially on his 22. His lax attitude and poor defensive decisions makes me think that either the Cheetahs have spent far too much time on attack in preseason or that they are missing the defensive nous of a guy like Ebershon to organize their defensive structures.

  • The catalyst to their success last season was the harmony they found between attack and defense. Theyve now let the seesaw tip too far in favor of a Blues style of Rugby, once again.

  • Goosen is a perfect example of a player who is way over hyped in Currie Cup only to never be able to replicate it at a higher level. He is not the only one Rhule was the same. People need to realize just how different Currie Cup and Super Rugby are and that just because a player is able to do well in on does not mean he will be able to do the same at higher levels.

  • @KingCheetah (Comment 113) : I have no problem with the Cheetahs or Goosen. But if you honestly can not see his inability to perform at SuperRugby level then you are blind.

  • The Cheetahs looked bloody awful in that orange. Why were they even wearing it? Since when does white clash with dark purple?

  • @Seth101 (Comment 114) : So you only recently started watching rugby I presume? He played very well at Super 15 in 2012, or does that not count? Unfortunately he has suffered two serious injuries, and has to fight his way back to form. Everybody here, wants him to step right back and play to the hype that to be fair, wasn’t created by him. I am not saying he should be the bok 10, I just say give the guysome slack!

And he doesn’t have the benefit of playing in a team on form at the moment. If I am blind, then you are just being petty. As I said, before he got seriously injured he made a very good debut in Super rugby, after 9 consecutive matches he was the top points scorer, and the Cheetahs were scoring some great tries. When he got injured, the team scored substantially less. So give credit where credit is due.

  • @Die Kriek (Comment 106) : Pot, kettle, black?? Seems the Sharks were the team being hyped… not the Cheetahs, but hey don’t let facts spoil your little moment! Luckily, the Sharks are delivering, lets hope it continues. Because after all the hype, nothing less than the title will suffice!

  • @KingCheetah (Comment 119) : mate, if hype about the Sharks irritates you, has it ever occurred that this might not be the best place in the world to complain about it?

I mean, have you checked the URL?

  • @robdylan (Comment 120) : Not complaining at all Rob. Replying to a comment about the “hype” of the Cheetahs pre-season. If you only want Sharks groupies on this blog, then make it one of the conditions!By the same token if you only want everybody to blow smoke up the Sharks asses make it a condition

@BR (Comment 124) : Prefer not to listen to the Afrikaans commentators anyway, and if I had a choice I would just listen to Justin Marshall who says it like it is. Media 24, gee you follow different versions to mine. Everywhere I read it to be the year of the Sharks, and rightly so.

  • Nope, the Cheetahs have been punted to maybe finish second to the Sharks in our conference, which seems unlikely. That said we already have more points than we had at this stage last year.

No serious journalist will punt the Cheetahs as having a better chance. That they were punted to make the playoffs again is true, but that is about it! And on current form, they are way off the pace.
