Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder seem to be reacting out of a combination of anger and panic, having made wholesale changes to the side that bumbled to a single-point win over the Stormers in Christchurch last week. The side to face the Rebels in Melbourne sees plenty of movement indeed.

Colin Slade moves into the flyhalf channel this week, paving the way for Israel Dagg to take over at fullback. Tom Taylor and Ryan Crotty each move one space further out, with Nafi Tuitavake returning at right wing for Johnny McNicholl, who shifts to the left. Int he final change, veteran Andy Ellis starts at scrumhalf for the injured Willi Heinz.

The only change to the starting pack comes at hooker, where Ben Funnell replaces Corey Flynn, the latter having broken his eye socket during last week’s match.

1. Wyatt Crockett
2. Ben Funnell
3. Owen Franks

  • The Crusaders have such a proud history that even when they win, they still get embarrassed.

  • @West Indies Cricket Board (Comment 3) : The Saders often start the season poorly and still end near the top by the end of season.

  • @robdylan (Comment 11) : Though I’m a fan of their other stuff it’s enough to drive me back to Boney M. You have to give it at least one listen though. It’s a badge of honour kind of thing.
