  • Shit weekend for SA.

    Total points read:
    Aus 85
    NZ 80
    SA 70

Plus we started a week early. We have played 34 games while Aus and NZ have both played 32. The Sharks are the only ones to pick up the slack.

  • @David12246 (Comment 11) : Does it not remind you of the Aus conference with the Brumbies carrying all the slack last season…..
Its why Jake is so good, doesn’t look at what’s going on around him, he looks at what’s in front.

  • At this point the Sharks are looking really good on the log, level on games played with the Chiefs and 3 points ahead and a game in hand on the Brumbies who are two points behind. Jake White must be very pleased, although I’m sure he wouldn’t admit it in public.

  • @Jacques Venter (Comment 14) : The scary thing about the CHiefs is their ability to extract log points from every game.

That’s also how they sneaked into the ’09 final….bonus points, and lots of them.

  • @Jacques Venter (Comment 14) : thing is about hte Chiefs is that even though they are only 3 pionts back form us, they have won 2 fewer games. As you guys know, games won comes before points difference in the calculation, meaning we in effect have a 4-point lead on them.

  • @robdylan (Comment 16) : yes that’s correct but what bothers me is most of the teams behind us already completed their tours. Sharks will need to step up on their tour.

  • You guys forget, all we need to do is be top of SA, and the way the other teams are playing that should be a cakewalk.

But yes, we should be pushing for home semi and final.

  • Yes, the Sharks will be back this week. The Lions will be hungry for a win and they will play like they have nothing to lose. So let’s hope the Sharks are not too lazy after week off and play an 80 min game – firing on all cylinders – attack and defense and and scoring plenty (at least 4 ) tries!GO SHARKS!!!!!

  • Last time the Sharks went to Johannesburg they slaughtered the Lions (warm-up). This time there’s no Lambie. However, I might be remembering wrong but last time Fred went to Jo-burg he tore the Lions to pieces.

On the other hand, our last SR visit to Jo-burg resulted in a 10 point loss (even though we should have scored that 4th try and gotten 2 bonus points, which I remember clear as day).

I am guardedly optimistic about the coming weekend.

  • @David12246 (Comment 21) : Going to be tough this weekend but I think if the Sharks pitch and play like they can they should beat the Lions.

  • @JD (Comment 22) : I think we will comfortably win this one. The Lions looked terrible against the Crusaders and controversially won 2 of their games thanks to Stuart Berry. The way to beat them is to simply play for territory in their half and shut down the space around Boschoff. Fred Z is more than capable in that dept.

  • @The Great Couch Shark (Comment 23) : The Lions raise their game against us at home in SR. In 2012 they won and in 2011 they drew with us. Both times we were expected to run rampant.

  • Dang Cruden out! That could be a big blow for the Chiefs. It also makes the Sharks position at the top a bit more solid. Although I don’t like to celebrate anybody’s injury.

  • A bad weekend for SA, but actually a good weekend for the Sharks. Our closest SA rival could only gain one log point, and the Cheetahs at least limited the Chiefs to 3 log points (should have been 1 only, but that is another story).
