  • Sbura is MOTM. Very well deserved. One can see what White was so excited about (though I was always a believer).

  • Not a very promising display by the guys. JPP looks scared to run with the ball.

  • Liked what I saw from Mvovo at 15…think it was very close between him and Hosepipe.

  • So now we have to move Frans to 10, but who do we start af 12?
Sithole needs someone experienced next to him.

  • @byron (Comment 6) : Mallet is jealous of JW’s wc gold medal, and his winning record at SR level, a success level Mallet has never been able to attain.

@Original Pierre (Comment 8) : Williams at 12 is more than capable.

@Lieplapper (Comment 7) : Come on, quit with the doom and gloom, you’re starting to sound like Skinstad and Mallet ;-)

Rob would never have been an option, as Swiel is clearly being favored by White, and will be the understudy to Steyn until Fred is back.

Don’t worry, unlike the rest of SA coaches, White actually knows what he’s doing…on the field and behind the scenes.

still have my suspicions on Sithole, going forward he is good, defense think he will be suspect but will give him the benefit…….time for Andre to step into 12. Throw him in and check if he can swim…..that’s what they did with Lambie, Frans when he started, JPP, Marcel, many more. If he has the BMT he will swim.

  • Jake picks Mvovo at fullback, everyone is sceptical…he has two great games.

Jake picks Sbura at center, everyone is sceptical…several great games and a MOTM.

Moral of the story….shut up when Jake is talking, he is the chosen one! :D :D

  • @Son Of Mayhem (Comment 3) : Sorry mate but the team in disgusting camo is not the Sharks, you clearly were not watching the right game….

The Lions played with so much heart, it was the class of the Sharks that kept them in that and gave us a good win in the end, most teams would of buckled under that kind of pressure.

  • Bit scrappy, but our first away win so happy about that. Thought lwazi might have got the motm instead of sbura, but good game by both of them nonetheless. Guess Fran’s steyn gonna play flyhalf from now on unless jake thinks swiels up to it

  • Jannie needs to be benched. I’m gatvol for his antics, Sharks need to start with Adrianse untill Jannie’s back in his place and stop trying to coach the refs. Almost seems as if he thinks he’s bigger than the game.

  • @Lieplapper (Comment 7) : Tim Swiel has been on fire for the Sharks XV. We will be fine with him as a backup to Frans Steyn. Seriously, this young kid is very solid. I can see why Jake rates him. He was a bit quiet against the bulls a month ago, but he has a metronome boot and has been at the heart of the Sharks Xv victories.

  • @JD (Comment 16) : Jannie is full of k*k, but Adriaanse needs to keep Jannie on his toes otherwise he’ll just get chosen week after week to start.

  • @The Great Couch Shark (Comment 18) : Jannie needs to know that the Sharks will not accept his shitty attitude towards the refs and that there will be consequence for his actions. He’s giving away penalties and knocking the ball. I really think he’s got a huge chip on his shoulderand got a huge attitude problem. Maybe a week or so of Vodacom cup rugby can sort that out?!?!?!?!?!

  • I agree that Jannie needs a serious attitude change. Would’ve picked Mvovo as MOTM. He was electric on attack. Bone Collector collected another with that monster hit. Also thought Bissie had a great fetcher game tonight. Pietersen great vision to always look for an offload. Great seeing our defense is the best in superrugby to date. Steyn definitely gunning for Boks number 12 jersey!!!

  • A few thoughts:
    1. I trust Jake White. I regard him highly and his track record in identifying what is needed in each position and picking the right guys for the job speaks for itself. So I trust he’ll pick the right 10-12 combination. Personally I’ve always felt that 10 was the worst of the positions that Frans plays…and so I’m kind of caught between keeping Steyn at 12 with Swiel coming in at 10 (I’ve watched few Vodacom Cup games and like what I see!) OR moving Steyn to 10 and giving Esterhuizen a chance at 12 (I’d like to see how that goes)…
    2. I know a lot of you are not convinced about this side yet…and on the balance of performances that’s fair enough…but I think we should just note one or two things: when the boys have been really switched on and the intensity has been high, no one has been able to touch us so far…but we seem to struggle to consistently keep the intensity high. In my mind that’s not a train smash in a very long competition IF you can manage to win most of the games you play even if you’re not at your best and IF we manage to be truly switched on and peaking at the business end of the competition. So far we’ve managed the first part of that IF statement, so I’m happy to remain quietly confident.
    3. The next 6 weeks will reveal all! At this rate no SA sides are winning overseas. We simply have to buck that trend.
    4. I’m a little bit worried about Bismarck. This was his best game in terms of getting back to his best at the breakdown. But in terms of captaincy I have my concerns. His ref management is not great. Yesterday he talked to Craig Joubert with constant complaining and a fair bit of petulance. I don’t think that does him or the team any favours. There’s some work to do yet on a whole lot of captaincy aspects.
    5. But I’d still rather be the Sharks not firing on all cylinders at the top of the log than the Stormers not firing on all cylinders at the bottom of the log… :)

  • @pastorshark (Comment 22) : must agree Bissy is not managing the refs at all. Both Bissy and Charl must stop complaining, one of them is going to get a yellow card for the way they’re talking to the refs.
I’m sure if the Sharks start finishing the chances they’re creating they will win at least one or two of their overseas games.

  • Jannie is a waste of space. Really what was nonsense about I kept my line? That was a no-arm charge (you cannot call that a tackle) costing us points and forcing the team to reshuffle he has no regard for the team only his own ego. Besides which there is a marked improvement in the scrummaging when he leaves the field.
