Deon Fourie has been forced to withdraw from the DHL Stormers team to play the Cell C Sharks in Durban this weekend, due to failing a concussion test late in the week.

Reserve hooker Stephan Coetzee thus moves into the starting lineup, where he will face stern opposition from Bismarck du Plessis in his first start at this level.

Former Junior Springbok Mike Willemse comes into the number 16 jersey, joining fellow front row debutant Sti Sithole on the bench.

DHL Stormers (revised) – 15 Jaco Taute, 14 Cheslin Kolbe, 13 Juan de Jongh, 12 Damian de Allende, 11 Sailosi Tagicakibau, 10 Kurt Coleman, 9 Nic Groom, 8 Duane Vermeulen (c), 7 Siya Kolisi, 6 Nizaam Carr, 5 Ruan Botha, 4 Michael Rhodes, 3 Pat Cilliers, 2 Stephan Coetzee, 1 Alistair Vermaak.
Subs: 16 Mike Willemse, 17 Sti Sithole, 18 Martin Dreyer, 19 Jean Kleyn, 20 Manuel Carizza, 21 Dylon Frylinck, 22 Demetri Catrakilis, 23 Peter Grant.

  • Not much media hype going into this game.

Clearly the Cape media cabal are not confident.

  • @robdylan (Comment 6) : In your defense, Deon Fourie is easy to miss… or does he easily miss? Always get confused on that one

  • This is dreadful news! There are few things in life as pleasurable as seeing tears roll down Fourie’s little troll face…

  • Wow. That really takes the wind out of their sales. Lol on the Vermeulen thug bit. Always thought Fourie a bit of a Kiwi player off the ball!!

  • Jeez but Jeff Wilson had a go at the Sharks style of rugby last night.
Thing is, I couldn’t really fault what he had to say. Sharks are winning yes but jeez they cant defend forever.

    Desperately need the 5 tomorrow.

  • @Dunx (Comment 12) : unfortunately the chief thug is still there, nice Michaelhouse boy with the name of Rhodes,a truly dirty player.
Jake should rest as many players as he can for this game, good opportunity for guys like Chaddy, Cooper and Swiel to get some confidence, and for Lourens ,Kanko and Keegan to get some game time.

  • Their one main ball pilferer out. The new hooker can surely only be an improvement at lineout time though.
