Naka Drotske has kept faith in the Toyota Cheetahs match 23 that recorded a 27-20 victory over the Cell C Sharks in Bloemfontein last weekend.

The same unit will travel to Johannesburg for the weekend’s final game against the Lions, the loser of which will be consigned to last place on the South African conference log.

Centre Johann Sadie earns a 50th cap in Super Rugby, likely to be his last for the Cheetahs as he leaves to take up a Japanese contract on completion of the season.

Toyota Cheetahs: 15 Willie le Roux, 14 Cornal Hendricks, 13 Johann Sadie, 12 Ryno Benjamin, 11 Raymond Rhule, 10 Johan Goosen, 9 Sarel Pretorius, 8 Philip van der Walt, 7 Teboho Mohoje, 6 Torsten van Jaarsveld, 5 Francois Uys, 4 Lood de Jager, 3 Coenie Oosthuizen, 2 Adriaan Strauss (capt), 1 Trevor Nyakane.
Substitutes: 16 Caylib Oosthuizen, 17 Luan de Bruin, 18 Carl Wegner, 19 Jean Cook, 20 Henco Venter, 21 Shaun Venter, 22 Elgar Watts, 23 Hennie Daniller.

  • The winner of this scrap will determine who finishes bottom of the SA conference. I like both team but I would like the Lions to win this one, they have had a torrid time lately and I think they have actually performed way better than expected. Not finishing last will at least offer Ackerman and his crew some form of acknowledgement of a job well done and also offer great encouragement for improvement.

  • @Salmonoid the Subtle (Comment 2) : The teams propping up the log have been far more competitive this year. The Lions have won 6 games, the same number as the Bulls who are a few places above them and one less than the Stormers. Reds and Brumbies have won 5 and 4 respectively. In 2013 the bottom two sides won 3 games.
