  • I have been impressed with the Lions though…I wish we’d played like that last week…but we don’t seem to be able to. The last time we played anyway near like that (i.e. with some enterprise) was in the first week of the competition!

  • Yes, he’s allowed to reach and place the ball…but surely not to propel himself forward off his knees. That has to count as a second movement…

  • To bad players like Schalk vd Merwe, Jaco Kriel, Warren Whiteley, Lionel Mapoe will never feature in the Bok setup because HM has a hang up picking Lions players

  • Taking nothing away from the Lions (well played), but how the heck did the Sharks conspire to loose against this Cheetah team last week?

  • @Mutley (Comment 44) : Its really sad that a team whose scrum has not taken one step backwards to anyone can just be flat out ignored.

  • @Feather (Comment 41) : Sadly a champion side has to win against all opposition. The Sharks are responsible for the position they are in and no one can blame the Cheetahs nor the Stormers.

But I do agree with the quality between the Cheetahs of last week and the Cheetahs that played yesterday… pretty big difference.

  • @Feather (Comment 41) : You should get out more!! There is a big wide world out there, not everthing is about the Sharks. Maybe it shows not how the Cheetahs played , but rather how the Sharks capitulated against the Cheetahs?

Maybe if the Sharks had the same passion as the Lions showed, they might have beaten the hapless Cheetahs, and Stormers, and actually used the advantageous draw they had.

  • Whew that was a bit of a surprise – not so much the lions winning – but the extent of the margin. It’s hard to believe that the Cheetahs had 7 current Boks in their starting lineup.
This match showed that Coenie is nowhere near international class at tighthead. He was taken to the cleaners by probably the most underated Loosehead in SA – I wonder if HM was watching.
Willie le Roux, brilliant attacker that he is once again showed that he is as poor defensively as he is good on attack.
The only two Cheetahs players to look like Boks were lood de jager and Cornel Hendricks. Goosen continues to confirm my impression that he is the most overhyped and over rated player in Sa rugby.
