JP, Frans (finally) done

It’s never easy to figure out exactly what’s going on in Japan, but according to my understanding, both Toshiba Brave Lupus and Panasonic Wild Knights should finally be done with their respective seasons.

The clubs, for which Frans Steyn and JP Pietersen, respectively, ply their trade, both lost in the semi-finals of the “All-Japan Championship” – whatever that is – at the weekend. According to the JRU’s website, the final of said competition, which takes place next Saturday, is the last match of the domestic rugby season. In other words, by my reading, there’s no way either Frans or JP can have any games left to play that side.

Now I’ve been mistaken in the past when I’ve assumed that these guys would head immediately back to Durban and report for Sharks’ training the following Tuesday (let’s give them a day to travel) but I would certainly expect them to filter back in time for possible inclusion for round 4′s match against the Stormers.

  • @West Indies Cricket Board (Comment 4) : I saw a pic a while back and he looked like he’d shed some weight. He’s also apparently been operating at 10 that side, so it’ll be interesting to see how Gold, Venter and Co. use him.

  • And the rest of the recent returns? When do we expect them back in the matchday squads Rob? Kanko, Alberts etc? It would be nice to get an update as the official s15 site does not seem to have relevant or updated info.

  • I have felt that JPP hasn’t hit his top form for a few season now.
Maybe the new regime will be able to once again get the best out of him.
