Hi Sharks fans. I for one found some positives in the Sharks game, one being our much improved defence.

Media:

“It was the Bulls’ sixth win of the season and they remain second on the overall standings, while the Sharks stay outside the top four and look likely to miss out on a semi-final spot.” – news24.com

“The Vodacom Blue Bulls saw off a spirited challenge from the Sharks to secure a crucial 17-13 win in Durban on Friday night. In a relatively low-scoring affair, the Bulls managed to end a two-match losing streak, but they were far from convincing, despite dominating large periods of the match. In the end, though, they boosted their chances of earning the right to host a semi-final in a few weeks’ time. For the Sharks, a fifth defeat of a disappointing season has left them with a mountain to climb if they somehow hope to sneak into the play-offs.” – sarugbymag.co.za

“HE BLUE BULLS MANAGED TO GET THEIR STRAPS TIED LATE IN THE FIRST HALF TO SECURE A WIN THAT ENSURES THEM A SEMIFINAL SPOT. The Sharks dominated the first 25 minutes as the Bulls struggled to get any rhythm.” – rugby365.com

“In a closely-contested affair, the visiting Blue Bulls ran out 17-13 winners after leading 10-6 at halftime against the Sharks in their Absa Currie Cup match in Durban on Friday evening.” – iol.co.za

“The Blue Bulls dominated the opening stages of the match but were let down by their handling while the Sharks did well to contain the visitors. Both teams were denied tries before Sharks flyhalf Joe Pietersen nailed two early penalties. In the first of the denied tries Blue Bulls centre Burger Odendaal came within inches of the whitewash and would have scored if it was not for the exceptional defence by the home team.” – supersport.com

Twitter:

“Got goosebumps in that moment of silence at the #sharksvsbulls game… proud to have known such a #legend … #RIPDuif @Gallo_Sport”

  • If you could have kept all the players that played super rugby who aren’t at the WC, I do think it would have been a different ball game – bar Matt Stevens. To have Botha, Bothma, Kanko, Steyn and Coetzee in any side makes one helluva difference.
Instead you are in a rebuilding phase. Like the Bulls after 2011 and again after 2013 exodus. Never nice on the fans.

  • @JD (Comment 1) : It wouldn’t have been pretty.

@Blue Centurion (Comment 3) : I put that down to poor management. Glad they seem to be doing better now. I think you guys will have a great season next year.

  • @Blue Centurion (Comment 5) : That’s where your returning Boks will make a big contribution. Your youngsters will learn heaps from the more experienced players in that department. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

  • @JD (Comment 13) : Told you guy that Phillip was one of the most underrated 8th men in SA. Before he went to France, arguably only Thormeulen was better. He does the graft, tackles hard, and plays a great linking game with the backs. Very skilled player

  • @KingCheetah (Comment 14) : He looks like he’s finding some great form at the moment. I just wish it would rub off onto some of our other players.

  • @KingCheetah (Comment 14) : To me he’s a shoe-in for next year’s Super Rugby so we might as well have him take over the captaincy going into the remainder of CC. Tera can also remain a captain and since they both play 8 it means we should always have a captain on the park (barring injury). That’s my thinking anyway.

  • @vanmartin (Comment 17) : Do you not think that perhaps the DuPreez twins have over taken Terra in pecking order? I guess it depends on who coaches

  • @SheldonK (Comment 18) : Neither have been utilised at 8 though? They may have overtaken Tera but he was used more at 8 than at 7 if memory serves.
