Hi Sharks fans. With news being slow I thought I’d post some links to interesting articles from around the world.

We all debate our dream international team, but how close did we get to what planetrugby.com readers came up with? Take a look at this and see how well you did.

If you thought you South African rugby was in a good place or, conversely, if you thought you were alone in seeing the writing on the wall, then take a look at this article from New Zealand site stuff.co.nz and prepare for a dose of reality here, kiwi style.

The drama at the Kings continues with allegations of illegal activities by SARU and the EPRU, here . This one gets a bit technical but is well worth the read.

The Sunwolves are also making the headlines for all the wrong reasons, at least in Australia. Read this for the latest coaching news.

With our Blitzbokke having done so well in Cape Town there is further good news on the 7’s front. See here for some very interesting news related to the planning around the road to Rio.

I hope you enjoyed the reads and the different perspectives offered.

Safe travels to all hitting the roads soon, and have a blessed festive season.

  • To be honest, the NZ reads more like an angsty Facebook post than a well-reasoned piece of journalism. I realise it’s an opinion piece and agree with a lot of the issues raised but it’s just a little too alarmist in its conclusions.

  • The sarugbymag piece is very informative, and raises a few of the questions I had, specifically the money generated from broadcasting rights.

  • Hi Rob, just a suggestion for a time when you’re really bored… I’ve always wanted Supersport to give us these kinds of stats, but they seldom listen to any suggestions from the public. I thought it’d be interesting to know physical stats of the players like how much they can bench/squat, how fast they are etc. Just a thought

  • @the ko (Comment 7) : ja would be nice to know but sometimes Unions does not really want to give accurate numbers as they think it would disadvantage them.

  • @JD (Comment 10) : True. Although any stat during a rugby game that flashes up on the screen other than height, weight and line-out takes would be better than what they feed us currently

  • I see that there is no space for Rory Kockott in the latest France squad announced today…

  • I also see that Jake White’s Montpellier has been playing much better in recent weeks. They got a big win this weekend and Bismarck scored a try…

  • @pastorshark (Comment 20) : ja the French public gets really upset if “home grown” players gets “dropped” for “foreign” players even if they are French citizens!!! It will always be difficult for players like Kockott and Burden to be accepted as real French players and that will always have them at a “disadvantage” against French born players.

  • @pastorshark (Comment 23) : Scott is way better than any French born player so they don’t complain to much about him but at 9 there’s lots of competition so Rory will struggle to get selected if there is no injuries to other 9′s.

  • @JD (Comment 26) : When Kockott was still at the Sharks he went through the same sort of phase as Reinach went through last season…slow behind the ruck, inaccurate pass. I lost patience with him…so, seeing Kockott coming right again has convinced me to be more patient with Reinach…

  • While watching premiership rugby this weekend, heard some commentators talk about willie le roux going to Toulon…. they made it sound like a done deal also. Is there any truth to this? On his way before playing one game for the sharks. Guess eddie created the president.

  • @SharksRTB (Comment 32) : @pastorshark (Comment 33) : if they want him they will have to pay the Sharks to buy him out of his contract and that is if the Sharks are willing to let him go. If the Sharks decide he’s not for sale then there’s nothing he or Toulon can do about it.
