  • I hope more people will be attending here than were at the Dolphins v Cobras cricket game. I went to watch last Friday and I and the other 16 spectators there were treated to some wonderful cricket. We could hear each other clearly from opposite ends of the ground.

  • @pastorshark (Comment 6) : very little advertising was done for that game, I wanted to go just forgot date and there were no reminders, the last match they played against the dolphins was advertised even on supersport and there was advertising on the street poles and the crowd turned up. I saw the match on sharkstv on supersport and I was shocked I missed it, they didn’t do enough to get the crowd in

  • @pastorshark (Comment 6) : @Poisy (Comment 7) : Are you talking about Dolphins vs Cobras regular season match, or Dolphins vs Sharks? I’m confused, why would there be so few people at a regular season game, and why no advertising?

  • @pastorshark (Comment 6) : Goolham Bohdi had already released the results of that game two weeks before so most people already knew the outcome.

  • @Salmonoid the Subtle (Comment 14) : Ive popped down on occassion but to be honest the standard really isnt good and the Union doesnt exactly put on a show…they literally just open the gates thats it. So yeh if you bored not bad…bu if there is cricket on it means the suns out and the Durban beach has much better views than the cricket ground

  • @Poisy (Comment 7) : Dolphins v Cobras…I was shocked by the poor advertising…as I was driving to the game on the morning of day 2, they didn’t even give the overnight score on East Coast Sportswave…I was so disappointed…surely Sportswave should have given the overnight score and then said one sentence to encourage people to go. The big sign oitside the stadium said the next game is the Warriors game next week and didn’t even say there was a game going on. Very poor in my opinion!!

  • @SheldonK (Comment 16) : But that’s the point…no effort is made at all. At least let people know. I would definitely go again! Entrance is free, you can park under the trees inside the ground, you can pick where you want to sit…I’ll definitely take my boys next time. And the cricket was very good on the day I went. The Dolphins added 117 for their last three wickets and then restricted the Cobras to 157/5 with some good bowling…

  • @SheldonK (Comment 18) : Yup…Benson and Hedges…Jonty Rhodes was new to the scene, Natal made plenty finals and we used to drive down to Durbs (150km one way) for every game to a packed stadium…oh well, times change…this is one change I’m a bit sad and nostalgic about (though I’m definitely not sad and nostalgic about all changes since then)…

  • @50shadesofshark (Comment 29) : In those days you didn’t get the extra run for the no-ball if you scored runs off the no-ball…so Jonty still had to get a run off the next ball…which he, as you said, stroked for 4…the 6 landed right near us!

  • @pastorshark (Comment 24) : Yeh u did pick a good game to go to…was watching the score online. And like you say its free entry and no fuss, just a chilled day out. But yeh you did pick a good game…i went one day when i think they played the Knights and only like 200 runs ere score din the day with 3 wickets to go down…was a very slow day. But yeh i really do think they need to promote it more…or at least have like a Sharks signing session there the one day etc so people come for another reason not just the cricket
