Sharks tour games: no local TV coverage

It’s not good news, I’m afraid. SuperSport will not be showing the Sharks pre-season tour matches against Toulon (5 Feb) or Toulouse (11 Feb).

In fact, it’s only really Irish and French-based fans who will be smiling. No UK broadcaster has opted to pick up the fixtures either, with only Setanta Sports in Ireland broadcasting the games outside of France. Due to right restrictions, Setanta is not available to UK residents.

It looks like we’re all going to be relying on dodgy internet streams come Friday night. It may not be legal, but hey – if these idiot broadcasters refuse to provide us a way to watch our Sharks within the bounds of the law, then we must do what we must do.

  • Ah it seems the Sharks lost out to the 45th showing of the Springbok saga or the highlights of the 2013 varsity cup…must have been a tough choice i guess. Im sure if they asked nicely good old Blades wouldnt mind getting pissed in a commentary box in France for 2 nights free of charge

  • @ebenp (Comment 5) : Agree! The best Addons for sport on Kodi are Phoenix/Woody, Sportsdevil and SportsdevilNL. Between them they cover every channel of sport known to man. No popups, no malware, no stupid comment tickers….

  • @SheldonK (Comment 3) : Super Sport, while I dislike them, are not necessarily at fault. They can’t exactly ship over a bunch of equipment for two games, so they would have to use the broadcast from other broadcasters. Perhaps they could have used the French broadcast and just sent over English commentators, which then does make it their fault, but who knows if that was possible.

If I find any streams closer to the time, of if it pops up on sportsdevil I’ll share. Or if anyone is going perhaps they could make use of first world internet and stream the game themselves?

  • @vanmartin (Comment 19) : You can DVR/record live tv through kodi, you can not currently record live streams through other add-ons.

As van said, depending what you run kodi on you can just set it up to stream, and then use any free screen capture program to record. I’d suggest OBS.

@JD (Comment 17) : I’d watch it as a slide show as long as the pictures were half decent

Just going to test record now to make sure it’s actually possible, don’t see why it wouldn’t be.

Ultimately, it needs to suit your specific needs.
