The Bulls will have a new flyhalf, lock and prop when they face the Sunwolves in Singapore this Saturday, with coach Nollis Marais opting to use this match to rotate some players.

Tian Schoeman swops with Francois Brummer, Jason Jenkins with Grant Hattingh and Lizo Gqoboka with Trevor Nyakane for this weekend’s match, while Jesse Kriel replaces Jan Serfontein after his successful return to the team via the bench last weekend against the Sharks.

The only player mentioned above that does not drop to the bench is Grant Hattingh who has stayed in South Africa with an injury. The backup lock is Nicolaas Janse van Rensburg. Pierre Schoeman is set to make his Super Rugby debut from the bench, while Bandise Maku also sees his name on the team sheet for the first time this year.

Bulls: 15 Warrick Gelant, 14 Jamba Ulengo, 13 Jesse Kriel, 12 Burger Odendaal, 11 Bjorn Basson, 10 Tian Schoeman, 9 Rudy Paige, 8 Arno Botha, 7 Jannes Kirsten, 6 Roelof Smit, 5 RG Snyman, 4 Jason Jenkins, 3 Marcel van der Merwe, 2 Adriaan Strauss, 1 Lizo Gqoboka

Substitutes: 16 Bandise Maku, 17 Trevor Nyakane, 18 Pierre Schoeman, 19 Nicolaas Janse van Rensburg, 20 Nic de Jager, 21 Piet van Zyl, 22 Francois Brummer, 23 Jan Serfontein

  • Jan Serfontein seriously looking as though he needs a change of scenery to rediscover his talent…some time at the coast perhaps. Nothing too exceptional about this Bulls side…but those younger guys will grow with each game

  • bulls have the best centres imo , bulls have a lot of depth there . they should have a rotation policy with serfontein swanapoel one game and odendaal kriel the next . we could actually do with one of those pairs

  • @shrodingers cat (Comment 6) : think serfontein at no13 could be something to consider.know sithole wants to play no13 also.

  • @50shadesofshark (Comment 10) : it would seem an unusual plan to keep someone relatively inexperienced and clearly not considered in the best 3 wings out of the 23 in the home games and “unleash” that player in the exacting environment of New Zealand… You’d have thought he’d get a game against the Kings, Cheetahs or Wolves and 20 minutes off the bench here and there first… you know, the way you properly manage and introduce a player without wrecking him for good?

  • @shrodingers cat (Comment 9) : @50shadesofshark (Comment 10) : problem for Sithole is currently all three wings is still relatively fresh. In the second part of the season (especially after the NZ tour) I do think he could feature more!

  • @Sharks_have_Character! (Comment 11) : personally I think the Sharks missed a trick to not give April and Sithole more game time against the Kings. Like I said in comment 12 think with rotation after the NZ tour he should get more game time as for poor April that is unfortunately when Pat should be back so he could get even less once that happens.

  • is sithole being considered at wing only or also no13?it is interesting that the player himself mentioned in an interview posted on here,he would like to play more regularly at no13 .maybe that is where the plan is to play him.rotation.
