Jantjies, du Toit for Ellis Park starts

Allister Coetzee has resisted the urge to make sweeping changes to the Springbok side for Saturday’s second test against the Irish in Johannesburg, making just two injury-enforced changes to his starting lineup for the clash.

Elton Jantjies, as expected, comes in to start his first test at flyhalf, with Pat Lambie’s concussion meaning at least a week’s rest. Lood de Jager has also been ruled out this week, due to a calf strain and his place to the starting lineup will go to Pieter-Steph du Toit, who scored a great try in a losing effort when playing off the bench at Newlands.

Coetzee has included some local Lions flavour on the bench, with Ruan Combrinck preferred to Jesse Kriel as utility backline cover. Another Lions man, lock Franco Mostert, takes du Toit’s place on the bench, while Morne Steyn is the final inclusion in the 23, covering flyhalf.

South Africa: 15 Willie le Roux, 14 JP Pietersen, 13 Lionel Mapoe, 12 Damian de Allende, 11 Lwazi Mvovo, 10 Elton Jantjies, 9 Faf de Klerk, 8 Duane Vermeulen, 7 Siya Kolisi, 6 Francois Louw, 5 Pieter-Steph du Toit, 4 Eben Etzebeth, 3 Frans Malherbe, 2 Adriaan Strauss (capt), 1 Tendai Mtawarira
Subs: 16 Bongi Mbonambi, 17 Trevor Nyakane, 18 Julian Redelinghuys, 19 Franco Mostert, 20 Warren Whiteley, 21 Rudy Paige, 22 Morne Steyn, 23 Ruan Combrinck.

  • Couldn’t care less. Bok rugby is very bland and unattractive. I’ll wait until it picks up. If it ever does

  • That is actually a very mundane tow-truck made by Navistar (International), presumably belonging to a Lamborghini dealer in Miami……………………which off course says nothing good about Lamborghini.

    On the Bok team:
Same team and same game-plan, but this week they will face 15 Irish players. The Boks will need some serious GEES to win.

  • The other option is that the Lamborghini dealer needed the tow truck because of Lava Jato in Brazil. Many flashy Lamborghini owners are missing payments.

  • Again this is a pretty good side on paper. But again unless the forwards suck in some defenders there wont be any space for the backline and they will just get tackled into touch. Do the hard work up front and there players in that backline that can take advantage of a bit of space. Good luck to those on possible debut.

  • @50shadesofshark (Comment 22) : Tough to pick 12 from those guys. A lot will miss out considering i cant see them not taking Senatla, Africa, Speckman. Du Preez, Brown, Geduld, Kok, Smith, Snyman…that only leaves 3 spots.

  • @50shadesofshark (Comment 24) : I think it will have to be 2 forwards and 1 back. So probably Kanko, Agaba (although id prefer Dry to both) and then its between Hougaard, DeJong and Kolbe i reckon. So 6 forwards: Brown, Kok, Smith, Kanko, Agaba, Snyman and 6 Backs: Senatla, Africa, Du Preez, Speckman, Geduld, Hougaard (Kolbe can kick though so may sneak in)

  • @Baylion (Comment 19) :

That would be an SUV – Sport Utility Vehicle. Which is probably a very accurate designation for that Lamborghini.

Although the definition of “sport” is not entirely clear.

    Sportsman = Hunter or Fisherman
    Sporting man = Gambler
    Sporting Woman = Prostitute

  • In conclusion, the Lamborghini SUV would be the vehicle of choice for a Sporting Man hanging out with high class Sporting Women.

While your typical Sportsman would probably prefer a truck like this:
