Michael Horak has named his Sharks XV team to take on Griquas in Upington on Saturday afternoon.

Marius Louw and Heimar Williams return in an all-new centre pairing this week, with S’bura Sithole moving to the wing. Tristan Tedder starts in what will probably be his last game for the Sharks, as he leaves to join Toulouse in France at the end of the month.

All Sharks Super Rugby players – including Ruan Botha, Chiliboy Ralepelle and Tera Mtembu, have been withdrawn from this squad as Gary Gold’s team is back in training ahead of their crunch match against the Lions on 2 July.

Sharks XV:
15 Kelvin Elder, 14 Sibusiso Sithole, 13 Heimar Williams, 12 Marius Louw, 11 Nkululeko Marwana, 10 Tristan Tedder, 9 Dylan Marcus, 8 Ayron Schramm, 7 Christiaan De Bruin, 6 Khaya Majola (C), 5 Hyron Andrews, 4 David McDuling, 3 Gerhardus Engelbrecht, 2 Stephan Coetzee, 1 Juan Schoeman
Subs: 16 Kerron Van Vuuren, 17 Mzamo Majola, 18 Ruan Kramer, 19 Wian Vosloo, 20 Jaywinn Juries, 21 Marcel Coetzee, 22 Morne Joubert

  • Three questions comes to mind when I see our Sharks XV team:

    1. Will we lose by < 10
    2. Will we lose by < 20
    3. Will we get hammered by 20 +?

  • @robdylan (Comment 33) : I really think he needs more time to develop Rob. These arent kids he will be playing. A couple hard hits and it could well create long term injury problems for him and then its a wasted talent. He seems good in his age group but he taking the step up at Varsity cup and then for Sharks XV he started to struggle in the contact situations.

  • @robdylan (Comment 33) : Rob, what is the obsession with Bosch? We need to look at how he played against the big boys, ie – England and Argentina. We can’t judge a player based on a game against Japan or France, who are average. Against England, all he did, was run a nice line off a Libbok break. I can understand why you like the look of him, but did you see him in the Varsity Shield? He was very average, never mind Currie Cup proper.

Let him develop with the u19s and u21s and let him go from there.

  • @Vonno13 (Comment 35) : @robdylan (Comment 33) : I would like to think that the sooner he is exposed to the top coaches the better. not so sure our lower coaches and team quality are up to scratch, in fact almost certain there are major issues and being the part of a weak team is also not beneficial to his development.

  • @Kabouter (Comment 36) : I am expecting the Sharks u21 side to be very very strong this year. They were semi finalists last year and to be honest, were all over the cheetahs in the semi final.

95% of that team is still there this year and I feel it would be a perfect platform for Bosch to grow as a player. All I am saying, is give him time to develop and lets have him in a side where we can have a very real chance of winning a CC U21 title.

  • @Vonno13 (Comment 37) : imo bosch has the attacking and goal kicking skills.need to spend time on conditioning and defence, should be properly managed this season for next season.not saying he should not play in the cc or even get game time this sr season, but need to think long-term.I’m a bit undecided.last 3 games of the sr season is:lions, cheetahs, sunwolves.might just be worth it to play him 20mins in each of those remaining 3 games.

  • Guys its rediculous this OBSESSION with Bosch. Every social media platform has raised this kid beyond his performance…its unbelievable. Springbok twitter handle is Bosch this Bosch that…Sharks FB pages during the Impi Season in profile pictures, in “Well Done Impi on your Win”; even when the guy didnt even play…its an unstoppable tide of one sided media frenzy…the kid is good; but is a kid. Poor defence, poor decicions, no commanding of the players around him, very individulist, cant stick to a structure…he needs to go back to quietly getting on with developing his all round game…this is not school boy rugby…this is the real deal, where split decisions need to be made…learn that…then i will endorse the guy. Chip n chases will not get him anywhere…the field is smaller now for young Bosch.

I think Bosch is a no 15 without doubt.

Lets ease up on the Obsession cause thats what it is.

Howdid he make the RWC 15 team; woefully found wanting…potetial and x factor yes, but consistsncy and all round…no way.

Just get the feeling its the “Bosch Show” no matter how he plays…

  • @tex (Comment 39) : I want to see whether he is the real deal…we can speculate all we want, but unless we see him at senior level (with quality players around him – not the dredge from the baby boks) we will never know.

Here’s the scenario: Pat Lambie injured (not sure if he is, but let’s imagine he is), then April will have to play 10, Joe at 15. Why not have Bosch on the bench (at least) as cover for both 10 and 15, and give him his 15 – 20 mins. in the second half?

Garth April said that the Sharks team gave him confidence to play well, why wouldn’t it be the same for Bosch.
