  • @Pablo Dinero (Comment 1) : well, we already know some of the signings, right? Jacques Vermeulen, Jemery Ward, Johan Deysel, Kobus van Wyk…. these ones seem pretty solid

  • Great to see such an early release of the pre-season squad.

I’m looking forward to some great things with Teich at the helm.

  • I just saw the Sharks retweet a fan thanking them for a call from the bone collector.

Maybe I’m being crazy here but why would Alberts be calling Sharks fans?

  • @robdylan (Comment 2) : I hope Ward is one being looked at for the future and not actually in contention for Super Rugby? He would make a good u21 captain, but having seen him a lot this year, certainly not at Super Rugby level just yet. Another youngster who needs to develop a bit, physically that is, very slight.

  • @benji (Comment 17) : Sharks fans are going to have to be patient. Need stability in the setup for starters, and then back Rob to build a team. I am sure Teich is the right man at the helm. Since Plum the Sharks have had no coaching stability!

They also lost the core of their senior players, and made some blunders in signing players that didn’t add value.

The beginnings of a great team is there. Now to build around it.
Beast, Thomas, Schoeman, Adriaanse and Coenie.
    Franco Marais, Chilli
Ruan, Oosthuizen, Andrews, MC Duling and Lewies
JLduP, Deysel, Ginger, Vermeulen, Dan duP, and Mtembu.
    Reinach, Claassens, Ungerer.
    Lambie, Inny, April
Nkosi, Sithole, Mvovo, Mjekevu, Odd1 and van Wyk.
Esterhuisen, Am, Deysel, Louw and Ward.
    Bosch and Smith.

Now just to nurture some new gems, and an astute purchase here and there. The Sharks will soon be challenging for glory again.

  • @KingCheetah (Comment 19) : This is a good read, look we are in a better position than we were in last year, we have two guys in Teich and Robert who are in Gary’s own words“
true sons of KZN and passionate Sharks men. Having played here‚ they understands the culture we want to create and our vision moving forward”‚
We have lost some huge egos, in the board room and on the field, and generally we have replaced them with quieter calmer people.
We are also in the position of not being expected to win every trophy in sight,
So every win will be a bonus and every loss doesn’t have to be a train smash.
This team has every chance to succeed, but just doesn’t have enough to get me to up front on season tickets,I ‘ll just buy them game by game, because the only definite thing about 2017 is that there are going to be a lot of empty seats.

Rob, please remove if you consider this as unwanted advertising. I saw it and thought it would be a good thing to share in these tough economical times for fans who dont always have the funds available for merchandise.

  • so when we have financial difficulties we just get made fun of

but when WP lose 11mil in one year, the local government tries to help them

from what I understand the local government at EP did more than just help them, but in some whats saved them. although EP still messed it up.

seems its just cheetahs, bulls and lions in the black, although bulls could be in the red just covering it up well or they have financial backers.

that article on 365 about how the pumas built a great team by spending within their means should be the ethos of all sa teams. not win at all cost.

in relation to the team we’re putting out next year for super rugby, we look ok in most positions but we do need to strengthen at places like back up tight head to adriaanse, maybe john meyer will step up ? or counie will come right (not holding my breath, sorry)

can we streamline the coaching, and get atleast one foreign skills or attach coach, diversity adds new ideas.

    im excited about 2017
