Boys will be boys… except for The One
The Sharks have yet another team in blue to overcome this weekend in Perth’s Western Force. And while Richard Graham’s side has been focusing on improving the defensive tactics which narrowly failed to overcome the Reds in SupeRugby’s opening weekend, the status of Kiwi flyhalf Willie Ripia, nursing a foot injury, means that Australia’s “boy wonder” James O’Connor, will likely take up the No 10 shirt on Saturday when Durban’s finest take to the field in round 3 of the competition and the first leg of the Sharks’s foray down under. [...]
Boks bully woeful England
The Boks rose to the occasion and gave their fans the win they so hoped for, but dared not expect today. Despite not playing particularly well, the visitors ran out comfortable 21-11 victors, although a late intercept try by England meant the scoreboard flattered them to an extent. [...]
A fresh approach is needed
Listening to the Bok coaching team talking about how they intend to abandon the kick-chase game-plan in favour of a more ball-in-hand approach reminds me a little of someone wanting to escape a bad relationship. It’s always a case of “yes – I’m definitely leaving! This can’t go on another day!” and yet somehow, nothing ever seems to change; a reason is always found to stay. [...]

How PdV stumbled upon Grant
Springbok coach Peter de Villiers was probably engaging in a spot of double-bluffing when he claimed to have a secret flyhalf – who wasn’t Ruan Pienaar – up his sleeve as backup to Morne Steyn early in the Super 14. [...]
Some Super 14 Round 9 musings…
Super 14, week 7
Guys, I must apologize. I spent the weekend saving the lives of the critically endangered De Winton’s Golden Mole so was unable to watch too much of the rugby. I think I managed to watch about 60 minutes in total. [...]
Simplicity is the name of the Game!
First of all I’d like to thanks Sharksworld for affording me the opportunity to express my thoughts on this site. So there i was on Saturday afternoon sick to my core, probably due to the previous evenings antics, watching the Bulls and Stormers win convincingly. As i was watching these two games it all became so clear to me, the new rules just require teams to do basics well. Thats it. The new laws allow for teams to carry the ball through a large number of phases with the new laws benefitting the ball carrier. So how is a team effective under the new laws? [...]
