SANZAR have issued a press release describing a number of variations to the disciplinary rules that will be trialled during Super Rugby 2012. [...]

New disciplinary laws for Super Rugby
2 X Super 8’s = Super 16
Right, I’ve thought long and hard about just how those idiots SARU and SANZAR can crowbar the EP Kinglets into Superugby and I think I’ve cracked it. [...]
Get your gloves on… it’s “Super 16″ time again
So this is kind of predictable, right? Having announced last week that the Southern Kings will definitely play Super Rugby in 2013, sort of added as a throwaway statement at the end of the Bok coach announcement with no details as to how it would be accomplished, SARU now look to have their hopes set on further expansion of the tournament, rather than having to drop one of the existing teams. [...]
Southern Kings to play Super Rugby in 2013
The Southern Kings will participate in next years Super Rugby competition. [...]
How do we turn 6 into 5?
In 2013 the South African Rugby Union will have to haul out their calculators and try to remember their high school mathematics rules as they try and turn 6 into 5! [...]
SANZAR announce Rugby Championship fixtures
The replacement for the Tri-Nations is here: it’s called “The Rugby Championship” and will see South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and new boys Argentina compete for an all-new trophy – and the title of Southern Hemisphere champions – between August and October next year. [...]
Cooper cited and cleared
Australian flyhalf Quade Cooper was called in front of a SANZAR judicial hearing this morning after he allegedly striked Richie McCaw with his knee in the Wallabies win over the All Blacks in Brisbane on Saturday. [...]
Good news for SA Super sides?
During the build up to the Rugby World cup some news for the 2012 Super Rugby competition seems to be going by unnoticed. [...]
Div is right
Peter de Villiers was, I feel, spot on when questioning the local media regarding their reaction (or rather, complete lack thereof) to the New Zealand Tri-Nations tour squad lacking around seven regular starters. [...]

Stefan fined by petty SANZAR
SANZAR have slapped Stefan Terblanche with a 2000 AUD fine for a tweet questioning the ruling that Riaan Swanepoel was not eligible to play for the Sharks in the Super Rugby match against the Crusaders earlier this year. [...]
Too Much Rugby – What Is To Be Done (Part 4)
After three articles of nearly 1500 words each, I will try to keep this one short and sweet… well relatively short and as for the sweet part that’s for you to decide. In my first post the whole concept of ‘too much rugby’ was introduced and discussed. It was concluded that the responsibility of resting players shouldn’t be a responsibility at all. Rather SANZAR should organise less rugby fixtures thereby removing the issue of player fatigue. [...]
Too Much Rugby – What Is To Be Done (Part 3): Super 16
In “Too Much Rugby – What Is To Be Done (Part 2): Super 15” I discussed two possible variations which allow for the contraction of the current Super 15 format. However with the Kings promised Super Rugby entry in 2013 and Argentina included in an expanded 4 Nations tournament next year (thereby increasing the chances of Argentinian Super Rugby franchises), the tournament is only set to get bigger and bigger. [...]
Too Much Rugby – What Is To Be Done (Part 2): Super 15
The 2011 Super 15 tournament has been a major flop amongst the majority of the fans. Even some players, such as 94-test All Black veteran Mils Muliana, have questioned and even challenged the new format. Ironically no one has provided a possible solution to the problem or how SANZAR should proceed to reduce the tournament fixtures. Therefore I have come up with 2 possible variations from the current format, which SANZAR can use to reduce the size of Super 15. For both methods I have explored the possible viewpoints that the players, coaches, SANZAR, team franchises and of course the fans will have. I have also tried to give possible advantages and disadvantages that the possible new format would present to each party involved. [...]
Too Much Rugby – What Is To Be Done (Part 1)
The very first Super 15 season has just reached its grand conclusion (well done Reds!!!) to what has been an extremely long and exhausting tournament for the players and fans alike. We all need to sit back and reflect on the positives and negatives of the new Super Rugby format. One notable negative point that I think most of us will reflect on is that there is simply too much rugby being played which has led to increased injuries as well as player exhaustion. This has of course led to poor quality rugby being produced in many of this year’s Super 15 fixtures, including the first two knockout games which usually produce high quality rugby. Fortunately the semi-finals and final made up for the dour quarterfinals, but the problem of too much rugby remains lurking and certainly should be on the forefront of SANZAR’s season review.
