The very first Super 15 season has just reached its grand conclusion (well done Reds!!!) to what has been an extremely long and exhausting tournament for the players and fans alike. We all need to sit back and reflect on the positives and negatives of the new Super Rugby format. One notable negative point that I think most of us will reflect on is that there is simply too much rugby being played which has led to increased injuries as well as player exhaustion. This has of course led to poor quality rugby being produced in many of this year’s Super 15 fixtures, including the first two knockout games which usually produce high quality rugby. Fortunately the semi-finals and final made up for the dour quarterfinals, but the problem of too much rugby remains lurking and certainly should be on the forefront of SANZAR’s season review. [...]
