Bakkies Botha’s request to be released from his Bulls contract has been denied and he will be available for the Bulls for the next four seasons according to reports on sarugby.com
Botha’s request to be released were confirmed by Ian Schwartz, the commercial manager at the Blue Bulls union
Schwartz said “We had no option but to decline his request, We have invested in him and his contract was last year renewed for a further five years. Releasing him would send a message to other players that contracts are not binding which in turn could conceivably lead to an exodus”
To the Sauce it appears as if a modicum of sense might be creeping back into the Bulls camp after what could be described as an early season state of confusion after the comings and goings and the shocking appointment of Frans Ludeke as head coach.

I dont blame them to be honest.
Would you just let your assets walk out the door?
What is it with these Bulls that they sign contracts they have no intention of honouring?
Its all Joost’s fault I tell ya!
Lol Vince, it probably is, you all know how devoted the Tshwane lads are to Joost and he was the first to do the contract shuffle.
Ooooh – how the wheel turns. Bet you he wants to kick uncle Bernie’s ass right about now…
Shoulda come to the Sharks, ou maat.
lol, bit of a cheek for Bakkies to actually think the Bulls would release one of their most senior players just ahead of the Super 14 so that he can go earn millions playing second division “celebrity” rugby down on the Cote D’Azur….
especially considering how they broke the bank to top the Sharks’ offer just two years ago…
Or maybe he just misses Victor too much….
Wesali! Don’t start.
😳
Yellow card him!
😈
For what? What are you guys on about???
🙄
hey… don’t start messin now 🙂
So anyway… interesting times. As Sauce points out, it looks as though there’s perhaps not a huge amount of happiness at Roftus given Ludeke’s appointment. Quite honestly, I reckon the senior players thought that Meyer would come back in as coach after Pdev got the Bok job. That ain’t gonna happen now and they are feeling way out of their comfort zone.
Interesting times indeed.
All this is playing into the Stormers’ hands.
tension in the Bulls ranks and the Stormers will walk away with it this weekend.
And as I said last night, once the Stormers are on a high they will not be that easy to write off.
well, good. They need to start playing with a bit of confidence again.
Bulls are going to struggle up front in the first few weeks. Gerber is out, Kuhn is not strong enough and they are missing all their good locks. And their loose trio is unbalanced.
Sorry – looks like Gerber will play.
Let’s hope Rassie has something better than JD Moller up his sleeve.
Chilli, Akona, Bakkies abd Spies will not play against the Cheetahs.
Big holes created by 3 of those.
Habana and Gerber will be fit to play.
without Habs they might as well save on the airfare…
