Well, I’m up late tonight, watching Depeche Mode videos on YouTube. Thought I’d share some, for those who are interested…
This is really good. An acoustic performance of “Nothing’s Impossible” of the latest album, “Playing the Angel”. Dave Gahan actually wrote this track.
Another of my favourites and another scaled-down version for late-night listening. This one is “Clean”, off the Violator album:

Bloody hard to get the formatting right… will add more as comments
rob i love the mode, saw them in spain in 2006, man it was amazing. violator is one of my top 5 albums of all time.
I had tickets to see them when they were in SA about 14 years ago. Bloody drummer messed up his hand and they postponed the concert and I missed them!! Sods.
I saw them in Jozi in 93… brilliant show.
Had a ticket all lined up for a show in London on my birthday in 2001. Then I got too busy at work and couldn’t go. VERY annoyed.
Man sorry I missed this thread last night…
Robert as a Depeche Mode fan, whatcha think of the following song – here is the link:

Pretty much the french equivalent of Depeche Mode, a new wave classic from 1982, still huge en France today. Listen for the keyboards at 1:50, reminds me of early Depeche Mode in many ways…
listening, Quinn.
I was the only one on this thread last night 😉
wow, you’re right… kind of a “Strangelove” sound there.
Very similar, although using a guitar for the main riff, whereas early DM would’ve considered that anathema (a Vince Clarke thing, as Martin actually likes guitar and plays pretty well)
Good stuff, though. What is the band called? Indochine?
also check out 3me Sexe & Les TZars….by same band….
Personally my favourite Depeche Mode album was 101.
Love all the songs on that album but all time fav Depeche Mode lietjie has to be Everything Counts….”the handshake seals the contract…the contreact still intact…”
there’s a fair bit of OMD to these chaps as well. Liking it a lot.
ah excellent Rob, good top see you appreciate a bit of culture 😉
fark I need to step out shortly for a while, got some other bands to introduce you to – we’ll need to poast another thread sometime…a Sharksoworld version of Brannas perhaps?
PS: notice that no Stompies have commented. IS that cause they have no culture or just poor music taste?
We need to forge our own identity here. I’m sure in time we’ll figure out what works and what doesn’t.
vs Hey there Delilah, this is an awesome track from accross the pond…
Listen to that bass riff which is so awesome it makes the bass guitar look uber-cool & would have most of the Cape Flats firstly listening to this sort of music & trying to crank up the bass on their woofer systems….
