I know it may be hard at first but if you slow down, stop, take a deep breath and have a bit of a look around there is something other than the Super 14 happening at the moment.
The Vodacom Cup has kicked off and is well under way at grounds around the country, some people tend to forget about this competition but i promise it provides a nice distraction from the emotional rollercoaster that is the Super 14 and also provides a nice platform to spot a few up and coming stars or one of the older players you love to watch.
Clubs are also nearing the end of their preseason friendlies and are set to kick off the club season. If you don’t take the odd Saturday to catch a club game or two then you really missing out,i must admit to having had a sniff and being addicted to going to club games.
The Vodacom Cup fixtures for this weekend are:
7 | Border | v | Golden Lions | 19:00 | Absa Stadium, East London |
8 | SWD | v | Griffons | 15:00 | Rustdene Sports Grounds, Beaufort West |
8 | BA Mighty Elephants | v | Vodacom Blue Bulls | 15:30 | Nelsom Mandela Bay |
8 | Free State | v | Platinum Leopards | 15:30 | Hoopstad Field |
8 | Vodacom WP | v | Valke | 16:00 | Brookside, Cape Town |
8 | Boland Kavaliers | v | Pumas | 16:00 | Boland Stadium, Wellington |
8 | Wildebeest | v | Wildeklawer Griquas | 16:30 | The Absa Stadium, Durban |
So if your doctor tells you ease up and get the blood pressure down but you dont want to miss your rugby fix, catch a VC or club game, who knows, you may just like it.
Claytie.

Wildebeest will be 0 and 3 by Monday 🙁
Eish, them Kwas are gonna wip the beeste badly
you telling me.
Bu you wanna pick 5 locks and Kees Lensing…
😆 😆
50 pointer on the cards?
Ill never forget the VC final between Griquas and the Bulls,Bulls were winning when the hooter went, Griquas kept the ball alive for about 4 minutes and went on to win the game.
Amazing to watch.
Didn’t kirchner score the winning try?
Pumas, Luiperds and Valke are getting better this year. And also Boland although they won their first two matches with a bit of luck. Valke literally threw away their two matches so Rudi Joubert is very angry.
But on Saturday in Wellington, the Pumas will be without their pointscorer-machine Rudy Vogt who has been called to the bench of the Lions for their Super14 clash against Bulls. 😯
Not sure Rob,but i dont think so.
Actually Rob, you are spot on.
“Kimberley – A try two minutes after the hooter gave Griquas a sensational 33-29 Vodacom Cup final victory over the Blue Bulls in Kimberley on Friday.
Fullback Zane Kirchener touched down in the corner to hand Griquas their third Vodacom Cup title after winning the trophy in 1998 and 2005.”
I know my shit, Claytie 😉
Maybe Andries Human will play for Boland this weekend. His wife deliver a small Bolandertjie on friday!
Should be a cracker against the high riding Pumas.
04.03.08 11:54:34 – PaarlBok
Let’s hope it’s not another Bolander like Gus Theron 😉
Damn….neither Paarlbok nor RobD took my big stinky pieces of bait….
Nay DP his Bolandertjie have blue blood! 😎
Boland-Pumas will tell us whether Die Kavaliers are really a good XV. But surely Jimmy Stonehouse is planning how to trip the home team…
Interesting will be to see Luiperds at Vrystaat and Valke against US. I suggest to my beloved Streeptruie not to underestimate Die Valke.
Good lcuk to Wildebeeste hope they can win against Griekwas 😯
HO, you found your password yet? 😉
