Blues coach David Nucifora has made a few changes to the side taking on the Stormers this Saturday at Eden Park.

“Daniel Braid is chomping at the bit and there was no holding him back from starting. This moves Justin Collins to the bench who more than deserves a bit of a rest after his massive efforts in the No.7 jersey for the first five rounds of the competition,” says Nucifora.

Nick White is starting with Tony Woodcock on the bench.

“This is just a chance for Nick to start the game rather than finish it. The same applies to Joe Rokocoko and Rudi Wulf – Rudi will start while Joe rests up before making his impact off the bench later in the match.”

The Blues official website reports that Nucifora is offering George Pisi his first chance to start this season.

“George had a shoulder operation during the off-season and has been on the bench in our first few rounds. Now he is ready to start at 15 and deserves the opportunity.”

The locks have been rotated, which sees Kurtis Haiu back in the starting 15 and Bryn Evans moves to the bench.

Nick Evans has been named at first-five eighths.

“Nick has come through all his testing this week so at this stage we’re comfortable naming him in our line-up.”

Blues team to take on the Stormers
1 Nick White, 2 Keven Mealamu, 3 John Afoa, 4 Kurtis Haiu, 5 Troy Flavell (Capt), 6 Jerome Kaino, 7 Daniel Braid, 8 Nick Williams, 9. Danny Lee, 10 Nick Evans, 11 Rudi Wulf, 12 Benson Stanley, 13 Isaia Toeava, 14 Anthony Tuitavake, 15 George Pisi.
Replacements: 16. Tom McCartney, 17. Tony Woodcock, 18. Bryn Evans, 19. Justin Collins, 20. Taniela Moa, 21. Ben Atiga, 22. Joe Rokocoko.

  • With Evans in the side I am afraid the Blues will win it.

Is there more to be read into that statement?

It certainly seems to me as if there may be a late change
