Another round where a lot of close matches went the other way to what we were expecting. Let’s have a look at the standings in our very own Sharksworld pool in the score prediction game over at www.superbru.com.
Game 53: Highlanders v Sharks
Not quite the drubbing we were all expecting, with the Shark having to dig deep to come back from 14-3 down. They won it 19-17 at the end, so Sharks by 2 was the correct result. Only five of us were within margin point range, but it was our fearless leader Ghost10 who bagged all the points, predicting Sharks by 5.
Game 54: Crusaders v Lions
Nobody gave the Lions a chance here, so it was a little surprising to see them turn 6-3 up. Still, the Saders turned on that onld second-half magic and ran in plenty tries, ultimately winning by 25 points, 31-6. Congrats to shark_time who got the margin spot on for this one.
Game 55: Blues v Brumbies
Ah, but the Blues are very rapidly disappearing up their own behinds this year! Losing 11-16 at home to the Brumbies… a result that none of us foresaw. That’s right, every single tipster in the pool backed the Blues here, so there were no points dished out whatsoever. Sigh!
Game 56: Force v Waratahs
A tough one to pick, this. Local Aussie Derby, could have gone either way. At the end, it was the Tahs who prevailed, winning by 5 points, 17-12. About half of the pool got the right result, with Ghost10 and blackshark sharing the bonus for getting the margin spot on.
Game 57: Stormers v Cheetahs
What a superb first-half performance by the Stormers! What an impressive second-half fightback by the Cheetahs! What a good advertisement for what an SA derby can be like if we just stop trying to hurt each other and concentrate on the game. Stormers prevailed 34-22 here, winning at home by 12 points. Lylmik, Sharkie, SauronShark and PaarlGimmie all got this one spot on, so the bonus was split four ways.
Game 52: Bulls v Hurricanes
Ah, come on! These useless tossers wouldn’t beat the blind school at the moment. A lot of us thought the Bulls at Loftus would be a different prospect, having done relatively well in their last two games on tour. It was not to be, with the Canes notching 50 points in Pretoria, winning 50-22. Canes by 28 was not an expected result for us, so SauronShark gets the bonus for picking them to win by 16. No margin points here, though.
No Grand Slam Points again this week, thanks to the awful Blues imploding as they did.
In an interesting development at the top of the table, we have new faces in second and third, with Fatality and Sinbinners putting in strong rounds to unseat Kandas and Villie. Ghost10’s lead at the top is now approaching 10 points. SauronShark was the MVP this week, with 7.8 points for the round.
