Reports indicate that Sharks tighthead BJ Botha is on the verge of putting pen to paper on a lucrative deal that will see him swap the sunny shores of KZN for the green hills of Northern Ireland.
An article on Keo seems to confirm a rumour that has been doing the rounds in certain other places for a while now; Botha will leave the Sharks at the end of the Super 14 to join Ulster. The supposition is that the presence of Jannie du Plessis at the Sharks threatens BJ’s game time in a way that he isn’t prepared to accept. The other side of the coin is that Botha probably just wants to earn a few Euro for a while, considering how highly rated he is around the world.
So, I for one will believe that this had happened when BJ actually climbs on to the plane; after all, we know what agents are like. Still, should he leave it would be a blow for the Sharks, although not quite the death knell that some would have you believe. Pat Cilliers is already showing signs of being a legend in the making, while Robbie Harris is a more than capable understudy to du Plessis as well.
And then, of course, there are the persistent rumours about CJ van der Linde moving to Durban as well.

π π³
DP
Not JUST the tabloid press. I was actually surprised how many hits there were when I did as PJLD suggested and did a google for BJ Botha Ulster. AND how OLD some of those articles are.

Thanks to PJLD for this link
KSA – you started a new culture…Love the heading !!!

Howzit RobDizzy, Vanilla I’ce and KSA-all’day!
Ice
I have to give credit where credit is due. π The culture was started by a poster or two on RW who would throw there toys out the cot NEVER to return to RW……………Only to return a few days later.
Howzit BS.
Ahhhh!! But credit to you for bringing the culture here… π
Hey Black – you scarce??? Where were you?
Who is the Webmaster of this site? Robdylan if it is you please let me know if you received my e-mail?
morning all
Reds – which one?
ok – got it. Will chase up for you a bit later
Hey CRU!!! First you dissapear after the Crus blow…now you back – suppose cause the Sharks also lost??? π
Thanx Rob

It the reality of a global game, you play where you earn. And BJ as do i think the majority of players are starting to realize that they can play internationally for two years and still make it in time for 2011 in NZ, and with every player from the senior side that heads overseas the stronger they become in the case for selecting local players based internationally.
No Ice. Was busy sorting out travel documents and network problem at work while sort of watching the game. Only came back yesterday.
#12
Actually had a feeling both would lose.
travel documents. Groan

That’s no way to talk about Wes and Vinnie…
#15 – just kidding!!! π
Nah – Wes and Vinnie didn’t leave of their own accord.
They was BANNED! Just like in the good old days π
#16 Why did you not say so??/ Could have been up on SB!!! π
served them right, coming up with all that pinko commie liberal shit about peace and brotherly love on an SA Rugby site π
#17
When the guy finally brought the docs for the kids, he misplaced my passport and had to drive back to fetch it. Coming back he was pulled over for driving without a seatbelt. π
#21
Never gonna read the previews again. rather go with my six pack π
LOL
Sauce
You make a very valid point and then to add to that point it will also give extra players a chance in the S14 when a few of the senior player go abroad for a season or two.
this is a real blow, BJ botha has shown fantastic form for the sharks and is by far the best scrummaging TH in SA imo.
#23…I think thats a good policy!!

Good morning everyone!
Ice – sounds like your boy is on his way home with an injury. Not good news!
Howzit Ness!!
Shoe – thought you were ignoring me!
By the way Ice – just love your girls – pity you live so far from me – I would baby sit any time (but then you know that). π
Jessie this will be bad news if BJ goes. Hope it is only rumours.
Yeah – I heard… π Feel sorry for him – he has not had a decent run this year..
Yes, just when he gets a chance to play, he picks up an injury. Bad luck for him.
Wish he can come to the Stormers. Good THs are a rare specie.
Hi Ice!!
Nessa – u lucky thing…getting to hug my “grandchild”!!!Now I’m
I don’t blame the guys when thay want to go & earn some decent currency!!
PB – jou oukies speel darem mooi lately!! π
#32 – Only saw that now! Thanks Ness – I know you would!
Hi Me2!! Mary gone?? π The kids took very well to Ness!
I reckon it’s excellent for player and personal development. At 25 years old, or even younger, a player can go overseas, earn good money because they’re in their prime, or still getting there and develop new skills. Then return when they still have plenty of rugby left in them. And they are set for life financially.
Don’t worry Me2 – I gave Cube an extra kiss from you!
Yeah Ice left after much drama at the airport on Sunday….flight delayed….missed Ibreia flight…Nationwide put her on their direct flight to London …. luggage left behind …. Nationwide to deliver to her London home…hopefully 2day or 2morrow!! π
#43 Thanks Nessa!!
#42 – my feeling exactly π
well, it would be a tad hypocritical of me to judge π
#46 – you there just to earn the currency???
π π Oi, Me2…cant anything work out smoothly!!
had Tay ad Dr this morning…has tongsilitis – hope she’s better before we leave for Stilbaai on Saturday!! π
LOL @ Rob…
Plus as KSA said we do have a bit of back-up in that department…so it’s not like he WOULD be dupming us in the cold. I’ve always thought we have too many ” Boks” sitting on the bench anyway…
dupming = mafia language for “dumping”…
48 – poor little thing – hate it when they ill & tongsilitis is a bugger ’cause they don’t want to eat! My Mum used to give us jelly & custard & ice cream (real treats in those days) when we had sore throats π
Haha Me2 – she still eats fine – loves her food that one!! The eyes are just drooping and she has quite a fever…but still laughing through the ‘snot and tranerige ogies”! π
#44 & 48 – I must say Nationwide really went out of their way to sort things out for her …. it was their flight delay from Dbn to Jhb that caused the problem.
They were also very good about keeping me informed about the etr in Gatwick etc.
Ulster is Northern Ireland, so part of the UK…therefore he will be earning pounds and not Euros!! π
no – I’m here to get the passport and secure a better future for my family.
The currency is nice, but it’s a lot more expensive to live here.
shit. That’s a good point. Thanks Villie.
Next time I’ll just copy and paste from Keo π
Villie – good result for you his weekend in the Birmingham derby?
GREAT result Rob!
15 goals in 3 games for us now. 4 against Bolton, 6 against Derby and 5 against Blues. 2nd highest scorers behind Man United in the league!! So very entertaining!
On the subject of BJ….will be a big loss!
it will indeed. BJ is the ultimate modern tighthead. Strong, quick, deadly defender and absolutely IMMOBILE in the scrum.
losing out on a BJ is always a big loss π
Whoever said that Gilette is the best a man can get, never had a BJ
bwaaaaaa!!!!
[email protected] 60/61
Hey Cru-El’la…still chasing dalmations?
Headline b4 Sharks/Brumbies match:
Concussed Stirling Mortlock replaced by Bryce Lawrence
Villie… your boys are definitely banging them in π …even if it’s vs the losers. π At least they are set in the mid-table…
They must aim for the Champions League next season.
Well…we’ll miss BJ (if he’s indeed leaving) but the bright side is if John Smit hadn’t left we wouldn’t have known the full effect of Bismarck.
Agree BS, BJ will be missed!!!! π
Staff turnover is something that happens in any organization – it is counted through good succession planing and in this particular case, you just can’t fault the sharks
64 – brilliant!
Hi Reds!!
What’s with the new pic? Wishful thinking β π
Cru-El…64…classic!
Will the Brumbies be penalised for having 16 men on the field?
seems they are determined to punish us retrospectively for all our prior transgressions
Anyone know which Kiwi ref will be taking charge against the Tahs?
69. Hi Me2. only pic I found to show the ppl I’m redhead and not Reds supporter.. π π
#74
pic of yourself would’ve worked then π
Cru_el.Don’t have one at the moment but working on it. lost all my pics on my pc due to some problem I had.
Reds – I like your pic…shows you are red head and a woman!! You go Girl!! π
(i have a pic of you still!)
Thanx Ice…

“shows you are red head and a woman”
Pic your words carefully Ice π
Ahh Cru – she knows what I am trying to say – a hotblooded redheaded woman!! π
CRU – Well – if you look anything like your pic…you’re fit in the category of “not too chabby, Nig..” π
shabby… π³
Nig???
Ice I understand..

Cru_el. agree with Ice..If you look anything like your pic I would eat you alive… π how is that for choosing your words carefully?mmmm?
Villie – the blind one who cost us the Super 14 last year
#80
As ek my foto opgesit het, was Antie se knieΓ« nou al op die vloer. π³

Kla jy of brag jy..
Rob,
I can handle Steve Walsh. He’s not the best but by no means the worst.
Let’s hope I’m still saying that after Sat!! π
Reds – thought you may have anorexia π π π
Yeah Villie!
You & the girls & the lovely wife still fine on the “Muddy Island”?
Somehow I don’t think the Kiwi refs can afford another π³
Walsh is a cool Ref IMO.
He makes mistakes but is not biased in anyway and the Sharks have a good relationship with him.
#90
Kla definitief nie, ma ek’s okkie ‘n brΓͺkgat.
well, after this weekend, I would consider even Goerge bloody Ayoub a marked improvement over Lawrence.
#97 π @Reds!!
Cheers allβ¦off for the pm!
Catch you all tomorrow!!!
David McHugh is my fav ref π
KSA
Agree with you. Can’t accuse him of being biased and at least he allows captains to have a chat with him and takes things onboard. Plus he’s a lot better than Lawrence and Honiss!
Hi Me2
All well over here thanks. And the sun is even shining here today. π
Holly, my eldest daughter’s favourite song is “we are black, we are white we are we are DYNABITE” (as she sings it!!) π π
Comment 85… π― π― My kniee op die vloer?? Moet ek dan vir jou bid?? Dit kan toggie so erg wees nie?? Onthou – beauty comes from within…Die vere maak nie die voel nie, … π π π
ANTIE??? KSA is reg – ek gaan jou blixem!! πΏ Lankal lus vir ‘n Suidwesterlike toer…. π
Cheers M2.
And he doesn’t take the offences on the pitch as personal attacks on his integrity.
Hmmmmmmmm………Do you think Lawrence’s folks are maybe from Tswane and moved to NZ some years ago???????????
#102
Miskien was ek verkeerd. Antie weet dan nie eens wat “knieΓ« op die vloer” beteken nie π
#104…was hoping i was thinking reading wrong… π³ π³

IMPRESSIVE KSA!!! π
Willkommen bei Sharksworld. Hier sprechen wir Englisch, ja? Sehr gud, Danke Schön. π
KSa my hubby done the comrades twice. One up and one down. He said the down one was worst than the up one… (I think it was only because he did not practice as much as for the up
) U agree with the down more difficult than the up β
wow – that’s awesome, old fella. How long did it take you?
I always thought going down was more fun π
I shall testify to the fact that he did run comrades and was a darn good runner overall too π
He will then say “I got married and it was downhill from there”
Running went out the window – there were some more ‘interesting’ activities to take part in of course π
Wa het jy my??? π―
I like up and down comrades. like the down more.

Have you got a 2.4 time?
My 5km pb is 34 minutes! Ha ha, but I’m just starting
2,4 time was 7:02. I will remeber that for LIFE purely coz of the radio station.
my current 5k time is 27/28 min.
i want to run faster, but my knees tell me not to.
Also, there are a lot of hills where I run. I will try doing 5km on the treadmill tomorrow to see how long it takes π
Radio station? I had a monument, a BIG monument outside Pretoria and I will never forget it but the time is well forgotten.
Salmo.
That time was run at 5SAI. A year later in Jozini I ran a 7:07 THAt was just plain Kak. We ran it on a Runway, Straight out and back π
I used to while away my time while running by calculating finish times and times that i should reach the next distance marker etc.
Bit of a number Junkie.
Jozini? I presume you know Sodwana and KosiBay quiete well.
The Jozini dam has also produced some good tiger fishing in recent years
Northern KZN/Zukuland have some of the most unspoilt areas of South Africa and all that amazing tropical fruit that just grows wild.
These above memories are from a few years ago so I really hope that things are still the same.
Home Jerome, cheers all.
Salmo π
yes i do π
Had a little mazda 323 back in the day. Did many a trip to Sodwana, Manguzi etc.
The petrol station in Jozine is now in the middle of a great big complex. NOTHING like it used to be when i was there in 87/88
Cheers Salmo
Is Pat Cilliers fit yet?? He was blerry good before his knee injury!
He’s been on the bench for the Vodacom Cup team for the last three weeks, JT. Knee is fine, just getting match fitness back
