Update: From Sharksrugby.co.za
Dick Muir has named his Sharks’ side to take on the Waratahs and with Bradley Barritt’s fitness still be to be finalised (a call will be made at Thursday afternoon training), the centre combination could change from last week.
Jannie du Plessis and BJ Botha have been rotated, with BJ earned a much-deserved rest and will play off the bench, while Jannie, brother of hooker Bismarck du Plessis, has been named to start after being left out of last week’s game with a muscle strain.
The loss of Steven Sykes to an ankle ligament injury sustained last week has also seen a change in the second row, with Albert van den Berg being named in the number 4 jumper and Sykes having departed for Durban this morning (Sydney time).
Muir has opted for a 5-2 split on the bench, with Jean Deysel coming into the side and Ruan Pienaar and Adrian Jacobs filling in for the backline replacements.

Now i am totally confused.
Can only hope we hear some news from the camp on what the thinking at 13 is and anyone will get bumped off the bench when the Barrit / Murray decision has been made.
Nothing surprises me with Dick’s inconsistent selections anymore… they’ve been… well… ‘inconsistent’ all year for the lack of a better word!
Now he’s really stuffing around…whats next Steyn at lock?
Dick what about Bismark at 14 and Odwa Ndungane at 6?
I’ve been saying anything to get Adi in the Starting XV to Charlie all season.
it seems i should have been saying. Anything to keep Barrit in the Starting XV to Dick.
I suspect if barrit is fit them it will maybe be murray who goes out with Steyn going to 13 and Barrit back to 12.
The article doesn’t say who will go of the bench if BArrit is fit or in fact if anyone will go off the bench.
Murray must be a bit miffed….he hasn’been at his best then neither has Barrit and Murray at least can claim he is a Bok.
It would appear that Dick will do anything not to drop either Steyn or Barrit.
if i had a choice of either Murray or Adi on the bench and the other not in the 22, it’d be a tough call but Adi would be on the bench.
I’m confused too.
Barrit at 13?
Grandpa Ackerman back in the mix?
Steyn all over the place.
Just what the f*&# is going on here…
😯
Bizarre. I think you have to favour Brad’s form over Frans right now. Anybody see the cover of Sports Illustrated? Frans stating he wants to play fly-half. Anyone read the article?
Steyn should play at 7 in place of Botes
Barrit can play hooker with Bismarck in the centres
waz – the article has been discussed ad nauseum …
just like the others where he says he prefers centre, lock and hooker…
I am still amazed 😯
😈
the sharks team that should start:
1. beast
2. beast
3. beast
4. beast
5. beast
6. beast
7. beast
8. beast
9. beast
10. beast
11. beast
12. beast
13. beast
14. beast
15. francois steyn
16. stefan terblanche (in case steyn gets injured)
Even the Aus commentators deepened their voices on the weekend when Beast got the ball. I almost pee’d my pants I was laughing so much. (That was in the first half)
Beast can play 15.
tell you what, in all honestly. If every player in that team could be implanted with Beast’s “intensity gene”, we would never lose a match.
The Beast does not sleep, he waits…
Have a feeling Steyn will move to 13 if Barrit is declared fit. Like I mentioned on the Sharks site I think Dick keeps playing Steyn because PDV asked them too???? 😕 😕
Reds
If Pdv had asked, then he must have asked DM to develop Steyn into a utility back, coz that is all he has done to Steyn. 👿
the face is at DM, not you, BTW 😉
Steyn doesn’t change positions…he’s always playing inside centre…it’s just that Dick Muir like to move his inside centre to different parts of the field ans give him different jersey numbers.
I hope this settles the Steyn confusion. 😉
😆 @ #18
If Barrit DOES make it and DM still plays Steyn at 12 then I will kak myself.
I have been pushing for Steyn to play 12 all season. But you can’t now play TWO guys in “new” positions suddenly.
Agree KSA..thats why I think that if Barrit is fit Steyn is going to move to 13. 👿
Correction again Reds…Steyn won’t move to 13…but instead 12 will be moved to 13 and 13 will be moved to 12. Verstaan?
irrelavant as beast will @ 12 and 13
[email protected] geraas… the BEAST at 12 will be called Steyn…
I’m out people…cheers..
Keo has just put this into perspective, actually…
Reckons the team announcement should say
12 Barritt/Steyn
13 Steyn/Murray
Make sense?
