Because the Tri-Nations this year will be played under the experimental law variations, only SANZAR referees will referee the matches as they have had experience of the ELVs in the Super 14.
Rugby 365 reports that a surprise omission is Mark Lawrence of South Africa who had an excellent Super 14 and was only recently restored to the IRB’s panel of referees.

Oh man 👿
We play Aus three times and we have Have bryce lawrence in TWO of those games 👿
I feel for Mark Lawrence big time, he had an AWESOME S14, but it must be said he has only just returned to his best.
He had a pretty iffy season or two before this one.
How many other countries can say they have FOUR top referees?
Jonker
Joubert
Kaplan
Lawrence.
I know NZ can say they don’t have ANY. It seems Steve Walsh has upset somebody or retired. Why Else would Bray and Lawrence be reffing ahead of him?
Yeah agreed KSA.
But unfortunately we also have JC Fortuin… 😛
@VinChainSaw (Comment 4) :
😕 true 😳
I notice he hasn’t been getting anymore appoitnments of late… seems the Ozzies didn’t care much for him.
