Sharks coach John Plumtree has named the first team of his tenure, to compete in a compulsory friendly against the Griffons on Friday night. Bradley Barritt captains the side from flyhalf.
Craig Burden starts at hooker with Bok props Deon Carstens and Jannie du Plessis on either side. Alistair Hargreaves and Albert van den Berg will be the starting lock pairing as Steven Sykes is named on the flank, in a somewhat surprising move. Jean Deysel will get a chance to make the number 8 jersey his own, while Jacques Botes continues on the open side.
The bench is an expanded one and will give the coach an opportunity to asses some of the fringe players available to him in the second half. Skipper Badenhorst is a familiar name, but there are new men aplenty elsewhere amongst the forward reserves. Prop Melusi Mtetwa and lock Pampoen van Jaarsveld will get their first opportunities at this level, while Skollie Ndlovu and Jacques “Chabal” Potgieter will cover loose forward.
In the backs, forgotten man Scott Mathie will be Barritt’s halfback partner. Andries Strauss and Waylon Murray complete a formidable midfield, while young Danie Dames will start at right wing, with stalwart Henno Mentz on the other side. Former Paarl Gimnasium man Chris Jordaan will make his debut in the number 15 shirt.
Expect the entire backline to be replaced at half time, though, as Charl McLeod and Andrew Borgen take over at halfback, Riaan Swanepoel and “Zuks” Vulindlu come in at centre and Lwazi Mvovo and Dumi Matyeshana come on at wing. Borgen himself attended Kearnsey College, the same school as Barritt, but is a year younger.
Here is the full team:
15. Chris Jordaan
14. Danie Dames
13. Waylon Murray
12. Andries Strauss
11. Henno Mentz
10. Bradley Barritt ( Capt )
9. Scott Mathie
8. Jean Deysel
7. Steven Sykes
6. Jacques Botes
5. Albert van den Berg
4. Alistair Hargreaves
3. Jannie du Plessis
2. Craig Burden
1. Deon Carstens
Replacements
16. Skipper Badenhorst
17. Melusi ‘Burra’ Mtetwa
18. Schalk van Jaarsveld
19. Skholiwe Ndlovu
20. Jacques Potgieter
21. Charl McLeod
22. Andrew Borgen
23. Rian Swanepoel
24. Luzuko Vulindlu
25. Lwazi Mvovo
26. Dumisani Matyeshana

kockett?
Some good players there, but some dead wood too.
And where is Kockett? π
I think that some guys are being rested or not playing for various reasons.
Muller, Pat Cilliers, Big Nik Justin Downey, Mike Rhodes…
Pampoen van Jaarsveld? π
@walter van transvaal.co.za (Comment 5) : Schalk van Jaarsveld. Comes from the Leopards
Is Terblanche available for the CC? hehehehe like the look of the starting props, both internationals and deservedly so, now Burden must learn to scrum as a short Hooker, I wonder if they can get John Allen to help with that. I am guessing that Terblanche, Kockett, Keegan and Muller are all being rested, they all played a lot of rugby in the Super 14. I like seeing Brad as captain, he did an excellent job of running the defensive lines in the Super 14, I just hope that playing 10 and captain is not too much of an ask, but it is just a friendly, and he does seem the natural choice for captain for the CC if Muller is called up for the tri-nations. I really like the lineout options with this team, with Sykes at 7, I think that Sykes is a better 3rd choice jumper than first or 2nd, just hope he has the pace to keep up at 7. Good stuff should be interesting to see this team in action.
Where is Keegan?
Just to get you lot in the right mood. Griffins team and report from suparugby
Qoute
forgotten Springbok flyer and two Springbok Sevens stars. Thatβs the surprise package the Griffons have up their sleeve when they host the Sharks in a compulsory friendly in Welkom on Friday night.
The former Springbok winger Friedrich Lombard will get a run for the Griffons, who have been strengthened by no fewer than nine Cheetah players for the Currie Cup competition.
Lombard represented South Afrika and the SA A team in 2002 and played Super 12 rugby for both the Cats and the Bulls.
Also in the Griffons squad are number eight Jonathan Mokuena and fullback Fabien Juries, two of the Springbok stars in the Sevens series.
The acquisition of these players will make the Griffons a force to be reckoned with in the Currie Cup B-section and they could well give the Sharks a run for the money on a cold Friday evening in Welkom.
The Cheetahs Vodacom centres Philip Snyman and Bernd Theissinger, scrumhalf Danny Theron, flanker Albert Parson, lock Isak van der Westhuizen and hooker Hercu Liebenberg complete the Bloemfontein invaders in the Starting XV.
Former Welkom boy Niekie Steyn, who wore the Cheetahs jersey with pride in the Vodacom competition, was named amongst the reserves.
Local stars such as Ockie van Zyl, Windpomp van Rooyen and the Louw brothers could thrive amongst the quality players that have joined them for the Currie Cup.
The midfield combination of Snyman and Theissinger might only play until the start of the national Under 21 competition.
Griffons vs. Sharks: Fabien Juries; Shane Hancke, Philip Snyman, Berndt Theissinger, Friedrich Lombard; Johann van Niekerk, Danny Theron; Jonathan Mokuena, Ockie van Zyl, Albert Parsons, Isak van der Westhuizen, Windpomp van Rooyen, Jaco Louw, Hercu Liebenberg, Sarel Louw Β©. Reserves: Romano Sibiya, Gert Greyling, Tros Botha, Sandile India, Niekie Steyn, Shaun Botha, Bolla Abrahams, Werner Griesel, Juan de Witt
So a battle between pampoen & windpomp!
@Dancing Bear (Comment 7) : howzit MacRib π
@robdylan (Comment 10) : hehehe surviving. A whole week without sailing, I don’t know what to do with myself.
Heh-heh always liked the name Windpomp!
Does anyone remember a Free State centre called Cheese Van Tonder?
@PaarlBok (Comment 9) : pretty nice of the Cheetahs to be giving away players, especially considering the squad they have!
@robdylan (Comment 6) :
Okay, that makes sense, he must have been in that res were the guys are all called pampoene.
@Dancing Bear (Comment 11) : only a week? Did you say it was broken?
@CapeShark (Comment 12) : he was a flanker. Another one who had his facial features rearranged by Uli Schmidt.
@CapeShark (Comment 12) :
Cheese van Tonder was a Lions loosie
I would not want to be a prop in the CC and have to play against the prop options at the Sharks. This may be as good a scrumming combination the Sharks can put out there, we all know how strong Carstens is, and he attacks the opposing tighthead when he scrums, and JdP is as good a scrumming tighthead prop as there is. Burden must be relishing the opportunity to scrum alongside these two in the CC.
Like the looks of that squad. I am sure Scott Mathie is appreciative of the chance to start. It will only be while they are resting Rory though.
@robdylan (Comment 15) : Cracked, non-displaced fracture. I doubt I will be sailing my Laser anytime soon, but driving the bigger boats will not be too bad.
@Nessa (Comment 18) : Hi Nessa! π
@robdylan (Comment 13) :
I am actually syrprise with the BlikOre squad. Their team for the Luiperds game
Cheetahs team for warmup against Leopards
Free State Cheetahs: 15 Bevin Fortuin, 14 Eddie Fredericks, 13 JW Jonker, 12 Hendrik Meyer, 11 Jongi Nokwe, 10 Jacques-Louis Potgieter, 9 JandrΓ© Blom, 8 Darron Nell, 7 Hendro Scholtz (captain), 6 Heinrich Brussow, 5 Barend Pieterse, 4 Flip van der Merwe, 3 Ronnie Uys, 2 Adriaan Strauss, 1 Wiaan du Preez.
Replacements: 16 Jaco du Toit, 17 Drew van Coller, 18 David de Villiers, 19 Kabamba Floors, 20 Neil Powell, 21 Chris Rossouw, 22 Hennie Daniller.
@walter van transvaal.co.za (Comment 16) :
20 Lions Caps from 1988 to 1994
Tros Botha? π―
@Dancing Bear (Comment 20) :
Hello DB!
The Lions picked this squad to play the Eastern Cape side
Forwards: Heinke van der Merwe, JC Janse van Rensburg, Gert Muller, Ethienne Reynecke, Willie Wepener, Dewald Senekal, Franco van der Merwe, Gerhard Mostert, Francois Uys, Cobus Grobbelaar, Justin Wheeler, Willem Alberts.
Backs: Chris Jonck, Jano Vermaak, Louis Strydom, Jaco van Schalkwyk, Wigan Pekeur, Walter Venter, Rayno Benjamin, Louis Ludik, Michael Killian, Earl Rose.
Let’s hope they are just resting Keegan – although I don’t know why – he didn’t play that much rugby in the latter stages of the S14.
@Nessa (Comment 26) : True, one would think that Botes would need more of a break than Keegan.
So DB – you like to sail? You and Me2 would get on very well then.
@Nessa (Comment 28) : When I’m not injured, I sail 6 days a week, have been sailing since I was a little one.
@Dancing Bear (Comment 27) : maybe Plum doesn’t see Keegan’s role the same way Keegan does?
NESSA! Missed you
@robdylan (Comment 30) : I was just going to say that, I wonder if Plumtree has something else in mind for him, and if so what?
@PaarlBok (Comment 21) : I said as much yesterday. It’s a good side… a better one than I was expecting
@Dancing Bear (Comment 31) : Plum strikes me as, shall we say, less likely to be tolerant of the Keegan Daniel bullshit than Dick was. I could be wrong, but that’s my feeling
@walter van transvaal.co.za (Comment 25) : That, however, is not such a great side. Good forwards, but not a lot in the backs to get excited about
Eish, i like Keegan, but a loosie he is not. He should have gone the Bobo route after school.
@robdylan (Comment 33) : I also have the feeling that size is important to Plumtree, like it was to Jake White. Keegan is not a lineout option, and is not really strong enough in the upper body yet to be a good fetcher/opensider. Not sure where he might fit in.
Good squad … Brad will be the skipper then…nice!
Maybe Keegan has the flu or something…
@robdylan (Comment 33) : Keegan has improved his attitude a lot this season. He seems more interested in getting the work done and less in wild-eyed antics. Speaking of improved attitudes, one thing we can always thank AJ for is knocking some of the kocky out of Kockett since he got to Durban.
why? what did AJ do to Kockett?
Hi all, can anyone please tell me will this match be televised? especially looking forward to hearing the commentators relating moves by Pampoen and windpomp! π and then will the CC be played with the ELVs?
@CapeShark (Comment 39) : I believe it was early in the CC last year, Kockett was mouthing off to the referee, and just generally acting like a kocky arse. AJ nearly klapped him on the field, got in his face and shut him down and quickly. There were other incidents between them, but since then Kockett has been a model citizen.
@CapeShark (Comment 39) : He almost bliksemed him… I think Kocky was about to chirp the ref and AJ had just had enough. Classic shot of the old warhorse wagging his finger as he scolded the youngster
@Sharksmad (Comment 40) : I doubt it will be on TV.
Full ELV’s in the Currie Cup. That means pulling down the maul and everything.
@robdylan (Comment 43) : Only laws in the ELVs I don’t like, the pulling down of the maul (and allowing truck and trailer) and not matching numbers in the lineouts. I like the rest.
π pulling down the mauls – the end of the Bulls era!
@robdylan (Comment 42) : That was exactly the kind of thing the Sharks needed AJ for the past few seasons. He was the seasoned veteran that could still cut it with the very best, and just commanded respect from the youngsters. I am positive that Kockett will be a great scrumhalf for SA Rugby, and he can thank AJ for helping him along early, he helped him mature very quickly.
@Dancing Bear (Comment 44) : agree
@Dancing Bear (Comment 29) :
That’s unchartered territory for me! And to top it all I get sea sick – so don’t think I would be very good at it.
@Dancing Bear (Comment 46) : you’ve spotted the chink in the above team’s armour. Not enough experienced older heads.
Albert? Ag pleez… Deon? Maybe… Henno? Again, unlikely.
The rest are all under 25.
@CapeShark (Comment 45) : Ja, but if they learn to break off with the truck and trailer when it collapses it could still work for them. Oh what am I thinking….Bulls LEARN something NEW???? not bloody likely….
@robdylan (Comment 30) :
Thanks Rob – picked up the flu bug and spent 2 days tucked in bed. Did me the world of good though – sort of like a forced rest.
@Nessa (Comment 48) : They have good medications for sea sickness now.
@robdylan (Comment 49) :
Think you can put Deon on the under 25 group – he told me the other day that he didn’t plan on growing up any time soon. π
@Dancing Bear (Comment 52) :
Can you take them if you dive? That would be handy. My whole family dive except me because of the sea sickness.
@robdylan (Comment 49) : Botes will hopefully step up as a team leader. He has captained before, but seems to be more the quiet type, just get the job done and don’t say anything. Great to have okes like that in a team, but just isn’t the leader type. I don’t know how he acts in training. I hope that Deon steps up but he too seems like the quiet type similar to Botes. So you’re right I’m afraid, I think that Albert will do fine calling the lineouts and leading in that area but not an AJ. So yes, really lacking in this area, all the more reason to have John Smit come home, and I hope….please…Butch as well (why isn’t anyone talking about bringing Butch home???).
@Nessa (Comment 54) : I imagine one would want to wait 24 hours after taking the medication before diving. I have used the seasick patch, removed it when I got to the Bahamas, and went diving the same day.
@Nessa (Comment 53) : I don’t blame him, I’m a lot older than Deon, and I haven’t grown up yet. π
AJ was a crap captain last season…
DArk Horse for the CC… Waylon Murray… smart and captained his school…
@Dancing Bear (Comment 57) :
Deon turned 29 last week and I told him to enjoy his 20’s because they are fast running out and he said he didn’t intend to grow up any time soon. I can believe that – he is quite the card.
@bryce_in_oz (Comment 58) : So was Bradley Barritt and according to players and coaches he marshals the back line, so a couple of more players will not really be a huge difference!
@bryce_in_oz (Comment 58) : and your school π
I want Butch to come back to the Sharks after the Tri-Nations and be the 10 for the remainder of the CC……I need a shooting star to wish on now. π
Gah! MySQL 4.1 does not support views or stored procedures!
@Nessa (Comment 59) : Deon has also been the best scrumming loosehead in SA for a while now (when he is not injured). He is also quite the ball carrier as well.
@Dancing Bear (Comment 62) : why not? I think the only real problem is that he still has a contract with Bath. I wonder if SARU are feeling generous
@robdylan (Comment 65) : Why isn’t anyone trying to get him out of his contract like they did for John, Victor, etc..? We don’t hear any talk about Butch, and I think he is as important right now to the Boks and the Sharks as any player could be. Butch has become the all-around, balanced and polished flyhalf. Oh and don’t forget I said he was a fine goal kicker when everyone was worried before the last test. We should start a campaign to bring Butch back, with him and John back next season we must win the Super 14!
#64
Does that include the game against the World XV when he got murdered by Cobus Visagie?
@wpw (Comment 67) : I practically wrote an article about that game, the only time he was destroyed in the scrum was when Visagie was scrumming in illegally, and was often called by the referee. Every time that Visagie scrummed square in that game, he got his arse handed to him by Deon. I played a long time in the front row, I understand front row play, and I can assure you that when the illegal techniques were taken from Visagie, he was handled by Carstens in that game.
@wpw (Comment 67) :
When you say murdered, do you mean as in Hmmm’s version of how Mujati got murdered last Saturday. π
Carstens is an attacking loosehead, unlike Gurthro who just relies on his strength to hold up the tighthead. Carstens scrums aggressively and from his attacking position, will simply go to ground if the tighthead scrums in. It looks bad to someone that doesn’t understand front row play, but if the ref handles that part of the game and keeps the props square, there are very few tightheads that can hold their own against Deon.
LMAO Salmonoid.
DB
He didn’t have a good game and if he did as you say ‘handle ‘ Visagie, why did Jake not select him again after that?
@Salmonoid (Comment 69) : Mujati got murdered by doing the same thing Visagie did in the World XV game, he scrummed illegally because whenever he scrummed straight he was shoved backwards very quickly. The difference is this referee penalized Mujati and then the poor prop had no idea what to do in the scrum.
@wpw (Comment 71) : First game against England in 2007 front row….Carstens, Smit and BJ. So he was selected again, in fact also played off the bench in that second game against England last year as well. Was going to go to the Tri-Nations but was injured, was also on Jake White’s list of 6 players as first alternates for his RWC squad until he got injured. If he was not injured he may well have been called up before Jannie.
@wpw (Comment 71) : So sorry WPW, you’re just wrong on that, he was selected by Jake White again.
@Dancing Bear (Comment 72) : anyway, as I recall, the Boks had Eddie Andrews at 3 that day, so it’s no big surprise the scrum went backwards
Not a bad team…..glad to see Plumtree taking the Currie Cup seriously…see Rob has talked Plum into playing Skyes at blind side flank, alternatively very good call Rob.
@robdylan (Comment 75) : I’m not even going to bring the GHMEA into this. WPW was just wrong with his facts since Carstens was selected again, and was in fact a first alternate for his squad until he got injured.
@Dancing Bear (Comment 73) : Ja wes,dude you walked into that one.
@wpw (Comment 71) : arguing about scrumming with DB is like trying to play hide-and-seek with a heat-seeking missle π
@Dive Pass (Comment 76) : I keep my ear to the ground, hey…
Sykes plays like a flanker. He is quick, with good hands and is a HUGE tackler. Maybe the reason he’s not turning into a meneer of a lock is because he just isn’t a lock at all?
@robdylan (Comment 79) : I dunno, WPW has taken to calling himself the Tank, and with a name like that he must be a formidable scrummager no? π
@Dancing Bear (Comment 81) : maybe he also wet his pants after the initiation ritual at his club π
@robdylan (Comment 80) : I don’t think he is a lock when it comes to lineout options, but he is a strong oke so may scrum well at lock. It is nice to have him as a lineout option as a flank though. Albert is so solid in lineouts, he seemed to be the only one capable of settling the Sharks lineout in the past Super 14.
Okay guys – off to fight the traffic home again. Behave!
So i was wrong. At least i am man enough to admit it. π³
I thought Jake didn’t select him after that cos i don’t remember him playing much for the Boks after that World XV Game.
@Nessa (Comment 84) : Cheers Nessa….
@Nessa (Comment 84) : bye Ness. Drive safely
Rob @ #82.
I resent that! πΏ
The last time i wet my pants was a few weeks…
I meant, I don’t wet my pants!!! π
@wpw (Comment 85) : It’s OK dude, I think a lot of people forgot about Deon after he got injured.
DB
I still think Ruan and Steyn are overrated though…
@wpw (Comment 88) :
I heard in an interview with Beast that he has learned a lot about playing prop from Balie Swart. I think that influence has become clear since the Beast has become a formidable scrummager, and he scrums aggressively. Any team will find it difficult to get a right shoulder against him now, and he still has much to learn. That combined with his ever presence around the pitch, and storming runs just has to be the prop of the future for the Boks though.
Cheers guys!
Oh, and also cheers to all the Sharks supporters!!! π
@wpw (Comment 90) : hehehehe OK, so you’re saying that Steyn is overrated but since he has not been selected for the Boks, who is overrating him? If he were to get a start I think I would agree with you though, but since he has not even gotten to ride the bench yet, he has not even been rated, let alone overrated. π
As for Ruan, so he is not even good enough for the Bok bench then? π
I must admit that Front row play is as clear as mud to me and its always good when someone with knowledge thereof actually explains the technical aspects of what goes on in a given situation.
@wpw (Comment 93) : Cheers buddy!!!! π
@Salmonoid (Comment 95) : I think this is why most referees have such a hard time policing the scrums. I know he is not the most liked referee in SA, but Dickinson (I have heard played in the front row) seems to take care of this area better than most referees. He has pinged BJ a lot for scrumming in (which he does quite often, but only on opposition ball) whereas most referees let him get away with it. I can tell you that as a hooker, I hated when the opposing tighthead scrummed in on my put in and didn’t get called.
@Dancing Bear (Comment 97) : Dickinson was one of my top refs in the Super 14 this year
@Dancing Bear (Comment 97) :
Thanks for that, so you were a hooker, did you play in the days when the scrummie still had to put the ball in in the middle of the scrum and the hooker had to strike to secure the ball. If yes, how different is the skill level (of hooking)as opposed to nowdays when skew put ins are the order of the day.
I remember well how a heel against the head was written in all the match reports, a thing of pride and a great crowd pleaser.
Emerging Boks 0 – Georgia 0…. 10 minutes in
@Salmonoid (Comment 99) : Sorry for the delay, got locked out for a while. Yes, definitely played in those days, and ended my career playing with more leeway on the put ins. It has taken away a need for quick feet and those skills in the scrum, by the hooker, and has turned the focus into being a very strong scrummager, sort of a third prop. Short hookers have to scrum differently than tall hookers, that is why Burden can not really learn to scrum from John Smit or Bissie, they are both tall, and have developed techniques suitable to their form. I am short so developed different techniques, I have mentioned to RobD before that I liked scrumming against tall hookers, I felt they were easy to pop and generally take out of play in the scrums. But yes, the focus is more on strength in scrumming and driving, and less on winning a ball thrown down the middle which required quick feet.
@robdylan (Comment 98) :
I met him in Durban after the Sharks – Chiefs game and he was mixing with all the Sharks players and having a great time. He stopped Stefan Terblanche and asked him to pose for pictures with his mates daughters. He was also asking where Keegan was coz these girls wanted pics with him. Cracking fellow….and agree he was one of the top refs in Super 14!
@Dancing Bear (Comment 101) :
Thanks DB.
Morning All!!!
So Robsie – i see Sykes is on flank… π
The gospel according to Greenaway
“Bradely Barritt will captain the Sharks from the flyhalf position in Friday night’s compulsory friendly against the Griffons in Welkom.
Coach John Plumtree has picked a team that is partly experimental in that he is giving some club rugby stars opportunities while resting some of the Super 14 players.
Rovers fullback Chris Jordaan has been given his chance in the place of Stefan Terblanche, and on the right wing Empangeni fullback Danie Dames has been picked.
On the bench, some of the most exciting black talent in the province has been picked, and it is going to be a big challenge for the Sharks in the Currie Cup this year to develop and bring through black players as Dick Muir and John Plumtree did over the past two years – five black Sharks are with the Boks, and four more are with the SA Under-21 team.
Click here!
Interestingly, Plumtree is giving Steven Sykes a go at blind-side flank, and he could well end up permanently filling the role that was vacated by A J Venter.
Johann Muller and Rory Kockott are others that have been given a break from the unenviable trip to Welkom, and Keegan Daniel and Nikolai Blignaut have not been considered because of injury.
Sharks: 15 Chris Jordaan 14 Danie Dames 13 Waylon Murray 12 Andries Strauss 11 Henno Mentz 10 Bradley Barritt (capt ) 9 Scott Mathie 8 Jean Deysel 7 Steven Sykes 6 Jacques Botes 5 Albert van den Berg 4 Alistair Hargreaves 3 Jannie du Plessis 2 Craig Burden 1 Deon Carstens
Substitutes: Skipper Badenhorst, Melusi ‘Burra’ Mtetwa, Schalk van Jaarsveld, Skholiwe Ndlovu, Jacques Potgieter, Charl McLeod, Andrew Borgen, Rian Swanepoel, Luzuko Vulindlu, Lwazi Mvovo, Dumisani Matyeshana.”

@robdylan (Comment 106) :
π π
@Iβce (TKMITFM) (Comment 107) : I hope he has a good game
@robdylan (Comment 108) :
So do I, so do I!!!!
I have Jody Jenneker busy quizzing me on FaceBook… wants to know where I know him from! π
What ever happened to Sandile Nxumalo ?
Eish…but the Sharks have a lot of scrummies…
@robdylan (Comment 110) :
Tell him Newlands East
@robdylan (Comment 110) : They have internet in Romania?
@bryce_in_oz (Comment 113) : apparently π
I used to live in Newlands…and I remember seeing Jody going to rugby practice while we were running around playing soccer. Good to see him playing for the Sharks and E-Boks. Hope he won’t disappear under the radar.
”
Plumtree said he was keen to see what Sykes could bring to the party when playing at No 7.
“He has all the attributes to be a great flank and the role is not too different from the locking role he has played in the past,” he said.”
@blackshark (Comment 115) : ummm. Don’t hold your breath
@blackshark (Comment 115) :
E-boks? Sounds like a wi-fi game…
@robdylan (Comment 116) :
IMO as long as he plays I am geppie!
@Iβce (TKMITFM) (Comment 118) :
Hello Ice. Long time no speak.
@Iβce (TKMITFM) (Comment 118) :
Meant WII…. π³ but it can be wi-fi, not?? π
@Iβce (TKMITFM) (Comment 120) :
Hey Monsta!! Was asking in beginning of the week where you are!! Are you well??
BTW – I have not seen that you have reg for SB yet….
@Iβce (TKMITFM) (Comment 121) : and neither of you have sent me your Fantasy League squads either! π
I have had a dose of the flu again. Spent Monday and Tuesday in bed. Popped onto the blog briefly yesterday but was so busy at the office.
I haven’t registered yet – will do so when I get a gap.
Am going on leave again tomorrow for a week. Going to my brother’s B&B in Sabie for the long weekend and then on to our timeshare at Ngwenya Lodge next to the Kruger Park. Can’t wait!
@robdylan (Comment 122) :
Sorry RD – will make a plan! π³
@Nessa (Comment 123) :
Lucky Lucky you!!! Enjoy!
Robs – I just need to go and read how it works – but me IZA very lazy!!
ROB – any player from any province in your squad? Ne?
@Iβce (TKMITFM) (Comment 125) : Well…you only pick your squad once…and that’s it for the whole tournament. Less work than Superbru but with 10 times the excitement. π
@Iβce (TKMITFM) (Comment 126) :
YUP!
@Nessa (Comment 128) :
So almost like a Springbok squad then? π
@Iβce (TKMITFM) (Comment 129) : yeah – but it’s best to pick guys who are going to play regularly in the Currie Cup.
Go look here for a list of players.
@robdylan (Comment 130) :
Thank you Rob – will give it a bash.
@robdylan (Comment 130) :
Such a sweety!!
I’m hoping it’ll be fun
@Iβce (TKMITFM) (Comment 132) : ag, I try my best, hey?
@robdylan (Comment 134) :
I luv it when you talk Afrikaans!! I can HEAR you say that, Soutie!!
@Iβce (TKMITFM) (Comment 135) :
He says “ag” without the “h” – typical pom!
I think it’s time we gave him a nickname like our other pal “sweets”. π
@Nessa (Comment 136) :

He is def deservant of a special name from us two now! π
@Iβce (TKMITFM) (Comment 137) :

What about Pom Pom?
@Nessa (Comment 139) :
Pooksie Poms….LOL!
π― Ai! Nee man… Pooksie poms ???
@Iβce (TKMITFM) (Comment 137) : eep!
@robdylan (Comment 142) :
It could have been ‘pampoenkoekie”…

@Iβce (TKMITFM) (Comment 143) : double eep.
What’s wrong with Studmuffin? π
@Iβce (TKMITFM) (Comment 143) :
π Don’t know about the “koekie” part!
Your lock pairring is very thin….
And thyey have that very very short lock on the bench…
Good move to play Strauss….he did very well for the Sharks a few season ago…until he got injured…
@robdylan (Comment 144) :
@robdylan (Comment 144) :
Could go for that Rob – it’s cute and balsey (spelling?) at the same time! π
@Hmmm (Comment 146) : agree that Hargreaves and Big Al is not a great combo. Al and Muller will probably be the starting locks in the CC.
Pampoen’s not that short… 1.99m. He’s only short if you compare him to Andries Bekker π
@Nessa (Comment 148) :
I think its 2 L’s…but what the hell would I know?/ Where is WAZ??
ballsy, yup.
Glad it’s settled π
@Iβce (TKMITFM) (Comment 150) :
He also has the flu – poor bugger. Saw him last night and he was really not looking good. Took the little monster for the evening so that they could get some sleep.
@Nessa (Comment 152) :
I cannot imagine him NOT looking good… π π³
You wanna take my monster??? π
@Iβce (TKMITFM) (Comment 153) :

Cheers everyone – see ya tomorrow!! π
@Iβce (TKMITFM) (Comment 155) :
Cheers Ice – I am also on my bicycle. Chow.

@Iβce (TKMITFM) (Comment 137) :
And you dont want to know what I read when you said you were “geppie!” – that exclamation mark almost gave it another meaning…. bloody scary I tell you.
@Ollie (Comment 158) : hey!
@Salmonoid (Comment 160) :
LOL!! π― π―
I read a “r’ and “n” instead of ‘m’…
@Iβce (TKMITFM) (Comment 162) : That’s what I figured yesterday
@Iβce (TKMITFM) (Comment 162) :

I knew you would take the spoils of victory – you are one of life’s winners – our own Nike!
@Big Fish (Comment 173) :
Just Do It!
I meant the Goddess of victory – we should build a temple to you here in the ether – call it “Die Paleis van Eis”.
Why aren’t you on in the evenings anymore? We are having some great winding-down chats late into the evening.
@Iβce (TKMITFM) (Comment 174) :
Greek goddess = Dutchmen Dolly???

@Big Fish (Comment 175) :
I know what you meant.. π
LOL – I like die paleis van eis!
Been at the 19th hole, and dance classes…and last night I was tired…
You!Tired!
I am shocked and amazed!
Hmmm, I will have a word with Rob – what shall we put in die Paleis? I would suggest the treasures and heads of non-believers, but Rob might get sticky about stuff like that…
We can make wpw High Priest – he looks like an old-school clergyman.
@Big Fish (Comment 178) : how “old school”? π
Old-school like Pope Alexander VI. π
@Big Fish (Comment 180) : right.
BF
I think Oubaas will do a better job than me…
Seeing as you looking for someone ‘old’ school… π³
