Springbok centre Adrian Jacobs confirmed on Tuesday that he would consider any offer from WP.
News 24 reports that the 27-year-old Springbok has been used largely as an impact player at the Sharks. He returned to the national team for the two-match Test series against Wales and was particularly impressive on attack during the first Test.
Jacobs, who was born in the Western Cape, also took the opportunity to show that he never shirked his responsibilities on defence.
It seems he would like to continue his partnership with Jean de Villiers by playing in the Cape.
“If there is a chance to return to the Cape, I’ll definitely look at it,” he said on Tuesday.
“When I was selected for the WP Under-17s for the first time, I wanted a tattoo, that’s how passionate I was about playing for Province.
“Unfortunately, some things happened that I had to accept. So I took the big decision to leave the union. But today I have no hard feelings,” he said.

Bummer… he won’t look the same in a Blue jumper… but he’ll get more game time… bring on our youngsters to fill his gap… Waylon won’t be going anywhere!
Interesting, but I would not read to much into it… π
For the record, I had nothing to do with this… π
Come on Charlie, give us the low-down!
I thought Bobo the Clown was the Stormers’ outside centre…
Rickie, Grant, JDV, Adi… vs Rory, Steyn, Barrit, Murray… interesting… I know where my money would be π
Typical journalistic license here – he merely says he would consider it – what a shocker!
Still, cant say I would blame him.
Seems that something might be rotten in the state of Ethekweni…
@bryce_in_oz (Comment 5) : depends which Steyn and Murray show up.
@robdylan (Comment 7) :
Dick won’t be there to play musical chairs…
@Big Fish (Comment 6) : He’s big, he’s thick, he’s built like a brick, Adooooolf! Adoooooolf!
@Big Fish (Comment 6) : I smell a rat… AJ not playing in semi…Stooili what are you busy with… πΏ
@bryce_in_oz (Comment 8) : so I wonder which New Zealander will be coaching the backline…
Charlie if this turned out to be true, would you become a streepies supporter?
@Charlie (Comment 10) : someone is eventually going to break ranks and tell me what the story is here… and then there’s going to be big kak
Come on chaps, AD would always be considering a move to ANYWHERE that he would get regular game time. He really wasnt going anywhere at the Sharks and would always be seen as a impact player.
@Salmonoid (Comment 14) : maybe not so much under Plum, though…
Still, to be honest, Sharks first-choice backline just doesn’t have room for all of Kockott, Pienaar, Barritt, Steyn, Murray, Adi, JP and Odwa… not to mention Oom Stefan
AD’s shares are up at the moment and he and his agent are on a fishing expedition, alternatively bettering their negotiation position with the Sharks.
There are no reds under the bed here….
@robdylan (Comment 15) : that said, I would rather have Adi at 13 than Murray, on current form…
I think someone is concocting stories here….just to give the Wee Pee supporters something to possibly cling on to!
Adi to get snotklapped by the Kiwis and Aussies.
Just hasn’t got the muscle to mix it with the big boys
I did hear that the Sharks are tabling an offer for Juan Smith and that the Stormers are after CJ Vd Linde!
@CapeShark (Comment 19) : Totally agree CS
Just look at the Super 14 semi. He is a fantastic little player but hasn’t got the build to stop a 100kg + opponent
@CapeShark (Comment 19) : he’s bigger than Matt Giteau…
@Villie (Comment 20) : I want Duane Vermeulen toooooo!
@Villie (Comment 20) :
That’s strange, I thought Juan Smith just signed a new contract with Free State…
@Dive Pass (Comment 24) : oh ja… that too.
@Dive Pass (Comment 24) : Means squat these days!!
Don’t know if its true…but I’ve heard we want him for the Super 14 next year.
@Villie (Comment 26) :
Oh I am firm believer in the sanctity of contracts π
@Villie (Comment 26) : with Juan and Butch back, together with John and our favourable draw, we’ll win the Super 14 next year.
Or at least host the final in Durbs and then lose.
@robdylan (Comment 22) : Adi weighs 93 kg… π
And if there was a chance for me to return to 1999…I’d consider it.
I was so passionate about that year I almost got a tattoo. π―
@robdylan (Comment 28) : πΏ
@Villie (Comment 21) : Who else from the Sharks look good in that semi mate β AJ sitting in the stand perhaps, after chipping his finger nail… πΏ
@Charlie (Comment 32) : Frans Verstaan looked good. Did you see that golden hair glinting in the sunshine?
How can Adi compete? He’s completely bald these days π
@blackshark (Comment 30) : Hopefully Adi has enough other tattoos now that he won’t need to get that moffie WP flower thing.
@robdylan (Comment 33) : π
What have you done to our WP mates?
@robdylan (Comment 34) : They can use all the “fancy” names but we all know it’s just poutpourri…
cold, wet weather in durbs this week…but surely the rain will be long gone by Friday night.
@blackshark (Comment 35) : huh? Don’t you know people in Cape Town take at least one week off every month? π
@robdylan (Comment 33) :
@Charlie (Comment 39) : just trying to get my post count up π Oubaas is less than a thousand comments ahead at this stage
@robdylan (Comment 38) : π Classic!
@Charlie (Comment 32) :
No-one really and I never suggested they did. Adi was fantastic the week before against the Chiefs but then the whole team flopped on the day of the semi.
While I rate Adi as a player just think that someone like Ma’a Nonu will run over him!
Are you sure he is not more like 80kg’s? π
@Villie (Comment 42) : something I’ve noticed… Adi’s defence is much better when he’s in the starting team. I think it’s got to do with practicing in a particular position all week and getting into the defensive pattern.
@Villie (Comment 42) : He & Nonu are buildt in the same mould…small tanks… π
@robdylan (Comment 43) : I’m not actually having a go at his defence which is actually pretty good. It’s just that stopping someone so much bigger than you can be a problem. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big Adi fan…I just think that we need to follow a horses for courses policy. For certain games he will be the correct choice, others maybe not so!
@robdylan (Comment 28) : KSA was the bad omen last year hehehe no chance of him going home for a final again because of it, so stay positive Rob π π
