We have become a victim of our own success and it’s time to leave the mom-and-pop shop that are currently hosting the site.
I’m sure many of you have noticed some less-than-optimal performance over the last few weeks. Basically, the time has come to say “enough is enough” and kick our current host into touch. There will be a little pain initially, I’m sure, but the good news is that we’ve already identified a new hosting firm in the UK and are in the process of setting up the new site.
Once we’re happy that all is well, we’re going to close off the comments functionality here, move the database across to the new site, change the DNS entry and then we should be good to go.
We’ll keep you posted during the week and will aim to do the move late one night. There will be some disruption, though, as DNS changes take time to propagate around the world. We’ll do our utmost to ensure that all is back up and running smoothly in no time at all.

@Hmmm (Comment 12) : Saturday afternoon was the last straw for me… these guys use a datacentre in the US… they don’t even have hands-on access to their own servers, so if something goes wrong, they are powerless to do anything about it.
