Both Jacque Fourie and Bakkie Botha will play no further part in this year’s Tri-Nations or Currie Cup competitions.
The pair sustained season-ending injuries in the Boks’ recent thumping of Argentina, with Botha rupturing a posterior knee ligament and Fourie breaking his cheekbone. Botha will not require surgery, but Fourie will. Each player is looking at a minimum of 2 months on the sidelines, in any case.
Bulls lock Danie Rossouw has been called up to cover for Botha, while Sharks phenom Frans Steyn will come in as cover for Fourie.

Terrible news.
We can possibly do without Fourie but Bakkies is in a league of his own.
He just needs to quit the ‘thugby’ he so often displays… 😯
@wpw (Comment 1) : why couldn’t we have lost Matfield instead?
I know Rob.
This morning I wanted to post something written by Dale Granger… but then I saw him describe Bekker as a ‘Colossus’
Toe los ek maar. 🙄
Crap…against my own better judgment I pick Frans in my FL side…
cost me 10 points and earned me 2…
What a massive bite in the ass….

@PJLD(RIP Bernie Mac) (Comment 5) :

@KSA Shark © (Comment 8) :

1) Cost you ten points
2) ain’t scoring any for the next few weeks.
365s take on Matfield
Villain of the Weekend: The South African team management must be concerned about the alarming slump in form of stand-in captain Victor Matfield, who on Saturday even dropped the first ball … with not an opponent in sight. Or maybe he is keeping his best for the All Blacks. Regardless, that is not the quality you would expect from a man leading your country’s national team.
‘bite in the ass’ 😯
Passop manne… ek dink Hmmm bat vir die ander span…
@Hmmm (Comment 7) : Serious bru
from 365
Fact of the Week: New Zealand have a better track record at Newlands than South Africa. They have met eight time in Cape Town – with the All Blacks winning five times and the Boks just three times. The biggest win has been an 11-point margin, 29-18 to New Zealand in 1996.
@PJLD(RIP Bernie Mac) (Comment 12) : been casting your pearls before swine, Claytie? 😉
@KSA Shark © (Comment 13) : why don’t we just play all our tests at Ellis Park?
@robdylan (Comment 14) : Huh? what?
Sorry dude that seems like something an educated person will say
@KSA Shark © (Comment 8) :
I had a wopper of a weekend on SuperBru though
I scored 6.5 and 7.5 on my pools…and for CC that is quite high and even impressed myself….
In my various pools I jumped from 24 to 11 (Freeway) / 80 odd to 54 (SW) / 20 odd (keo) / almost 30 (RW)
@PJLD(RIP Bernie Mac) (Comment 12) :
Sad…I like his acting…
@robdylan (Comment 15) :
Because the ‘untouchable’ don’t like the surrounds… and SARU aren’t a negotiator’s arse!
@Hmmm (Comment 18) : That would be possible with more than one entry. 😯
These are massive losses. We don’t really have a like for like replacement for Bakkies. Bekker does quite well when he comes on as a replacement but is more in the Matfield mould than a Bakkies. Damn, we could have done without these injuries!
