The coach of the Vodacom Blue Bulls Frans Ludeke confirmed on Monday morning that the Springboks Victor Matfield, Fourie du Preez, Pierre Spies and Danie Rossouw will immediately start to train with the Bulls.
The Bulls’ official website reports that Bryan Habana is still struggling with his hamstring injury and will only be able to return to the training field at a later stage, but whether these guys will be able to play against the Sharks in Durban on Saturday will only be decided on Wednesday.
Ludeke said another meeting with SA Rugby will take place on Wednesday, but in the meantime Matfield, Du Preez, Spies and Rossouw will train with the Bulls.
However, their Springbok teammate Bakkies Botha will miss the entire ABSA Currie Cup due to injury.
Other good news from the Bulls’ camp is that there are no injuries following Friday night’s drubbing of the Western Province and all the players are up for selection for Saturday’s match in Durban.

Habs is the one that worries me the most anyway
@robdylan (Comment 1) : Cyborg worries me a bit…but we have our own machine in Wolla. Hope Kanko will start.
@blackshark (Comment 2) : wouldn’t get your hopes up about that… he didn’t sound all the confident about playing this weekend
@robdylan (Comment 3) : 🙁
This is gonna be a HUGE game…
@blackshark (Comment 4) : and you’re going to be watching it in style 😉
@robdylan (Comment 5) :
And then tell us aaaaaaaallllll about it afterwards 😉
@robdylan (Comment 5) : @KSA Shark © (Comment 6) : Yeah…and I only bring good news…
@blackshark (Comment 7) : I’m nervous, hey… but I think we should take them. As long as we don’t do stupid stuff, like dropping Barritt, e.g.
@robdylan (Comment 8) :
If we get all our Boks back i don’t want to be John Plumtree.
He has a selection poser or six on his hands.
Barrit or Steyn (either)
Murray or Jacobs (Jacobs)
Ruan or Rory (Rory)
Michalak or Ruan (either)
Stefan or Steyn (either)
It is going to be tough and I expect a few of us to be unhappy/surprised with his selection.
A very interesting Currie Cup weekend is coming next.
It’s going to be a very tough match in Durban on Saturday: Blue Bulls will win anyway.
Cheetahs shall play against WP and should win.
Seeing as Jaques Fourie is not for sale, I think Province should make an offer for Adi. 😈
@KSA Shark © (Comment 9) : have you actually read my article? 😉
I can’t believe that after EVERYTHING we’ve been through, you still rate Steyn and Barritt as equal at 12. Have you learned NOTHING, oubaas?
@Die Jood (Comment 10) :
Durban will be interesting but I think the Baby Blues will will be crying for mommies after the fact.
And in Cheetah country all you have to do is pray for a bit of rain and then send Boland instead of WP to play the non-swimmers. 😉
@robdylan (Comment 12) :
You have an article? 😯
😆
No, will go look now.
I’ve already picked the Sharks on SB. Sorry Sharks fans. 😐
@robdylan (Comment 12) :
I see your brain is a bit stiff after that 10k last night. Did you run it in your mind or with your legs? 😳 😆
@McLovin (Comment 15) :
why you APOLOGISING for picking us. You should be saying THANK YOU to us for providing you with SB points.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 13) : in fact Sir for Cheetahs I wrote “should win”. Not sure at all we are going to win 😆
For Durban’s clash instead I wrote “Blue Bulls will win”. For sure 😆
Steyn at No. 13 however will be the best option for Plumtree against Blue Bulls with Barritt or Murray No. 12. And Stefan behind all as fullback.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 17) : Usually when I pick a team not only that I think might win, but who I want to win. They seem to ‘duik in die pomp’.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 16) : now now – surely you should know that running is very much a mind game anyway? Managed 62:41… very chuffed with that. Was aiming for under 70
@Die Jood (Comment 18) : Adi Jacobs will score 4 tries on his own. I’ll send you the video clips.
@robdylan (Comment 21) : Thanks Sir but I’ll have the chance to watch the match live. 😯
@Die Jood (Comment 18) :
and here we go again?
And Adi Jacobs?????????????????
He is the best 13 available in SA at the moment.
I can see why you think the Heifers are going to win. You are picking a Sharks B side. 😛
@Die Jood (Comment 22) : you lucky bugger – how will you do that? Are you in SA?
Thanks to FKING Sky, I won’t have the privilege
@robdylan (Comment 20) :
cool. Congrats.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 23) : what do you mean AVAILABLE?
@robdylan (Comment 24) :
Are Sky showing the WP Cheetahs match instead 😳
@robdylan (Comment 26) :
Jaque Fourie is better IMO
@KSA Shark © (Comment 25) : was really surprised at how easy it seemed. Determined to do the next one in under an hour… I wonder if 55 minutes is unrealistic?
@KSA Shark © (Comment 27) : no – they’re showing Lions-Valke. That’s the only CC match on this weekend.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 28) : based on what?
@Die Jood (Comment 22) : See the 8th best centre in SA Rugby was again on top form… 😉
@robdylan (Comment 29) :
55 should be easy with a bit of speed and or endurance training.
@robdylan (Comment 30) :
Based on my personal preferance and opinion. Sorry not much else to it. I just think Fourie is Awesome.
Will comment to clarify that Fourie will have to play his way INTO the team rather than just being given the spot.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 9) : I’m with Rob here…
Barrit or Steyn (Brad)
Murray or Jacobs (Duh!!!)
Ruan or Rory (Ruan to start- Rory not fully fit)
Michalak or Ruan (Anyone with a name that starts with FR…)
Stefan or Steyn (either)
@KSA Shark © (Comment 33) : J.Fourie…a lot of reputation…is there anything more to him in 2008?
ADI!ADI!ADI! Best “available” is cool with me. At least he is AVAILABLE and that’s what counts. 😉
Hi All!!
Sorry have not had time to read all threads and comments – just wanna say i am STOKED re the alleged sighning of Len Olivier by the Sharks!! 😀 😀
Well done Bokke – again!! 😀
On a negative note – PdV had a bit to say about the nay-sayers and crits…no problem – BUT then that makes his so called apology last week not very sincere….??? 👿 I think he should have said thanks and keep the rest to himself… 🙄
@I’ce (Rebel With a Cause) (Comment 36) : WHERE DID YOU HEAR THAT?
@I’ce (Rebel With a Cause) (Comment 36) : I must’ve missed that part about the crits but I did hear the part where he thanked all the people who’ve supported the team through thick and thin. 🙂
Have to say the attendance at the Coke Factory was great…just like the other venues…and the atmosphere was lovely. Well done to those who represented…you made us proud just like the boys.
@blackshark (Comment 38) :
You serious?? (about missing that part?)
@I’ce (Rebel With a Cause) (Comment 39) : if we’re talking about the messiah reference, we’re not going to be discussing that here, as it has the potential to explode into something very ugly.
@I’ce (Rebel With a Cause) (Comment 39) : Yes I am …still have the recording though…
@robdylan (Comment 40) :
No – agree and understandably so .. 😉
@blackshark (Comment 41) : @robdylan (Comment 40) :
Its not that part I am referring too – also article in Rapport – but for some unknown reason i cannot find the Len Olivier of the main article in Rapport Online… 😕
@I’ce (Rebel With a Cause) (Comment 43) : Well seems like the Boland’s Lionel Cornelius that plays 10 & 12 are on his way to the Sharks… 😉
@Charlie (Comment 44) : beat you to it… JUST! 😉
@I’ce (Rebel With a Cause) (Comment 43) :
I was also looking for it on line and its not there. Only 2 online articles by Mr Borchardt and they are much older than this weekend.
Ice are you refering to PdeV’s views that his critics should go and live somewhere else, or something like that. I scan read it and will read it properly today.
@robdylan (Comment 24) : in your opinion where is Free State? In SA or anywhere else?
In the Kaap REapport section the back page is dedicated to all the players that Boland are losing at the end of the season due to retirements or player movement. Its mindboggeling that these guys can still hope to, and do, play top section Provincial rugby.
Boland dont buy in any players, they get their players from the club system.
@Salmonoid (Comment 46) :
Yip – it was something else than the “vergelykenis” that Rob is talking a bout and prohibited here..
@Die Jood (Comment 47) :
The Free State is outside SA. Everybody in SA can swim when they go to Wellington.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 50) : Did we perhaps get our olympic swimmers from the FS ???
@blackshark (Comment 51) :
No the ou’s in the Freestate swim like bricks, the ou’s in the swim team break records not tiles in the botom of the pool 😉
@Die Jood (Comment 47) :
No need to get snotty… 🙄 😉
@blackshark (Comment 51) :
Says me who just needed to swim about 100m to the otherside of the banks of the Vaal an set foot on FS soil…
