Tewis De Bruyn will start at flyhalf against Western province in the absence of Chris Rossouw.

Reports indicate that Rossouw has a head injury and will miss the opportunity to play against his birth province. He has not recovered as well as expected after being concussed during the Cheetahs’ match against the Lions two weeks ago. Neil Powell will now start at scrumhalf.

Springbok loose forward Juan Smith returns straight into the side and takes over the captaincy from Hendro Scholtz who will be on the other flank. Duane Vermeulen will round out the loose trio for the Cheetahs.

As expected Adriaan Strauss takes over the hooker birth from cousin Richardt.

In a bit of news that I find very difficult to believe Kabamba Floors is on the bench and according to Volksblad, Naka Drotske has said Floors could be used on the wing. Apparently Drotske is planning on using Floors at wing quite regularly in the future and it will be interesting to see if this actually happens.

Cheetahs: 15 Bevin Fortuin, 14 Wilton Pietersen, 13 Robert Ebersohn, 12 Meyer Bosman, 11 Fabian Juries, 10 Tewis de Bruyn, 9 Neil Powell, 8 Duane Vermeulen, 7 Juan Smith (Capt), 6 Hendro Scholtz, 5 Barend Pieterse, 4 David de Villiers, 3 Kobus Calldo, 2 Adriaan Strauss, 1 Wian du Preez.
Reserves: 16 Richardt Strauss, 17 Phillip Lemmer, 18 Nico Breedt, 19 Heinrich Brussow, 20 JW Jonker, 21 Jacques-Louis Potgieter, 22 Kabamba Floors.

  • No Worries. Western Possums don’t have a flyhalf either. 😉

Will still pick Possums by 13 on SB though.

  • I see on Voldy that Jano Vermaak was cited and has been banned for 1 week after the spear tackle that cost the Lions the game two weeks ago.

TYhe hearing was only held this week so he will not be available to play against the valke this weekend.

  • @robdylan (Comment 3) :

6 of them, but one has been named at 22 which is traditionally the player number on a reserve back’s jersey.

  • Do not take this Cheetah side too lightly. You will do so at your own peril. 😐

  • @Silver Fox (Comment 8) :

The Boks only have 4 WP players in their……… Ag I mean WP have 11 Boks in their Starting XV. 😯

Cheetahs are going to be blown away I think. They might as well call it a bok side against the Cheetahs
