After several months on the sideline, centre Dewey Swartbooi returns to the Boland Kavaliers’ starting line-up for Friday evening’s Currie Cup rugby match against the Blue Bulls at Loftus.
Swartbooi will partner Piet van Zyl in midield, who will captain the side. Swartbooi’s return is one of four changes and a positional switch coach Deon Davids has made.
SuperRugby reports that with several key players on the injury list, Alshaun Bock returns to the side to wear the No 14 jersey.
Bock has also been sideline for a long time, returns at the expence of Cornell Henricks, while Swartbooi replaces Lionel Cornelius who will start on the bench.
At left wing Springbok Sevens star Renfred Dazel comes in for Alvin Hugo, while former Blue Bull Danie van der Merwe gets his first run in the starting line-up at scrumhalf at the expence of Marnus Hugo.
Up front Whalied Heyns move to No 8 to replace injured Dries van Schalkwyk, while Jacobie Adriaanse gets a start at tighthead prop.
The team is: Justin Peach, Alshaun Bock, Piet van zyl (capt), Dewey Swartbooi, Renfred Dazel, Elgar Watts, Danie van der Merwe, Whalied Heyns, Zolani Mofu, Angelo Brinkhuis, Bradley Mockford, Nico Esterhuyse, Jacobie Adriaanse, Harry Vermaas, Janro van Niekerk. Replacements: Pieter Wium, Andries Human, Cecil Kemp, Wendell Wehr, Marnus Hugo, Lionel Cornelius, Deon Scholtz.
